I figure since my red car wont be moving for a while I might as well get to work and finally install my side skirts. I wanted to mold them. Anyone have any sites with instructions or a step-by-step process? I think I got the basic idea but would like some tips/tricks or any helpful hints when doing it, and also what products to use. Any help is appreciated.

Once they are lined up nicely, screw them into place but make sure you can still kind of pull the tops of them out away from the car a little bit.Make sure that the area that the sideskirt will be molded is sanded down. Use a DA Sander with 80 Grit paper to do this. Take it down to bare metal so the reinforcement filler you will use later will have something to "bite" into. Once that's done, go ahead and use a product from 3M called Duramix. It's a universal adhesive, and it is really really strong. You need a special applicator gun for use with that too. I'll give you a link to a place where you can buy everyting I'm gonna talk about. Pull the sideskirt out a little bit and put some of the adhesive between the sideskirt and the car and then hold the sideskirt against the car until the Duramix is dry.

Once the duramix is dry and the skirts and part of the car is sanded down you are just about ready for the first coat of filler. BTW if the sideskirts are fiberglass go ahead and sand those with a 180 grit either by DA or by hand, depending on the contour of them it may be hard to get a DA in there. Now use a product from Marson called "Mar-Glass" fiberglass reinforcment filler. Mix up a little bit and go at it in sections, so it doesn't harden before you are finished. Once you have a fairly even coat of that on the skirt flowing up onto the car let it harden then hit that with 80 grit with a DA and get it fairly smooth. Don't worry if it doesn't came out super smooth and has pinholes, that will be taken care of in the next step. Once all the mar-glass is on and smoothed out, its time to apply a "skim-coat" of a lightweight body filler, my filler of choice would be from Evercoat. I use either the Rage Gold, or the new Rage extreme. What you want to do here is just apply a light coating of this on top of the mar-glass. this will be what makes everything super smooth and pinhole free. Once applied, use 180 grit and a sanding block and block all the filler smooth and flat.
