Okay, the steering wheel airbag ... if that were to ever pop out, how does it do so ??? Would that plastic'ish piece in the middle of the steering wheel like fold down or does it fly out into my face. I am looking to mold a screen into my steering wheel now but if it where to ever pop out, i wanna make sure its not gonna bash my face in even though it would be pretty funny. Also, is there air bag built into the back of that piece or if i take off that piece on the wheel, does the bag like lay back onto the actual steering wheel ... ? Thanks fella's.

I'm not really sure if you can do that. I'm sure that you need the air bag in your steering wheel to pass inspection. Unless you live somewhere without inspection laws. Other than that I'd say just bring it to a body shop, if you know someone that works at one and see if they can set it off for you. The did that to my brothers 98 R/T Neon when he got into an accident and it didn't go off. Other than that I'm sure that there is a way to get it out.

I want to mold to the front of it, not the back. I think it just unbolts from the back of the steering wheel with 4 bolts with a phillips head on them but i dont know if i can just unbolt it and pull it off or do i need to disconnect it somehow or what. i am confused on what to do, lol.

Thats would be very stupid to mold a screen there. Now what you can do is this. Take off the 4 bolts on the back of the steering wheel and disconnect the airbag. That way if you have a accident it wont go off.

If you leave it connected and have a accident with that screen in there , say good bye to your face.

Have you ever played with firecrackers ? There is a huge firecraker called a m-80. Thats what a airbag sounds like when it goes off.It will blow your screen into pieces. Those pieces will be headed straight for your face.

Got it?
Good Luck

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!! and let sit for like 20 mins b4 attempting. Careful with airbags because the slightest trigger and itll blow. When u get under the steering column u'll see a big red harness connector. Disconnect that and remove bolts and remove. And to answer ur question. It blows right throw the center of the steering wheel breaking the vinyl/leather middle piece. (sitting with 2 blown air bags as of right now haha) I molded my egt gauge and tt into the passenger bag for time being. if ya do the screen id love to see pics.

Ummm.... isn't it illegal to have a monitor in front of the driver like that? Obviously when the car is running, but still. Is this the hot new trendz or did you just get some wild hair up your ass and decide it would be cool to have a monitor in your steering wheel that would be all spinning all over the place as you turned? :rolleyes

This may be just me, but there might be some kind of sensor connected to it that needs to be reset when you put it back on, I had mine off once and my airbag light has been on ever since even though I triple checked the connection, made sure the contacts were clean, etc. I'd be scared to do what you're planning, I'd be paranoid about the cable to the screen getting caught on something and not being able to turn the wheel when I least expect it.

once u disconnect ur airbags even tho the batterys disconnected the srs ecu registers it and throws the light on. u can have the dealership reset it. i had them reset mine but it still comes on after they do it.
