I have a automatic tranny, and when I bought my car I didn't notice, but after using it alot, I noticed my shifter button is... stuck locked in. The cap pops up and down, but the button is stuck down. Would it be in best interest to open it up and try to see why, or get a new one? Just some opinions please.

if you can finagle the outside piece off i am sure you could jimmy the actual piece loose...Hell, i'd try to fix it if you are thinking about buying a new one already :shrug

It's not hard to remove the shift nob. If you haven't already... put the car in first and remove the phillips screw on the front side. After removing the front insert, remove the inner screw and the whole handle slids up and off.

I'm going to repalce my handle with an aftermarket one + manual boot.

Yeah, i'll try that. I rather save the money now for some better tweaks to the car. Thanks you two.

I have a question with this. The O/D button seems to not want to come out, and the cord keeps it from sliping off. Can this be removed and reput back on once i'm ready?

Sorry I haven't replied to your question... I haven't been keeping track of this thread. I ended up busting my o/d button trying to get it out. This was ok for me because I intended on relocating the button anyway. I'm sure you have already figured out how to remove it by now, sorry for the late post.

hah, I ended up cutting it and re wiring it. lol. I'll prolly end up relocating, or taking it off because i have never used it. Thanks though.:-)
