71547, So....since my suspension is completely out..... Posted by BuckNutty, Apr-28-04 03:59 PM
Should i polish everything in there and make it all pretty n shiny??
i went to swap in my struts and springs and my suspension was shot....so i am replacing everything....nuts, bolts, control arms....all that shit. Also throwing in Energy Suspension poly bushings on top of the KYB GR2 struts and Goldline springs..and the solid front motor mount since i am under there. She'll be sitting pretty and ride stiff as hell.
So waddya think...polished suspension....or sand it clear of rust and paint it black again (boring)

Unless you are going to be showing off your suspension to everyone...I'd just say make it black but I'm not much into showing my car off.

i say black, its gonna get dirty regardless, and i doubt you'ld wanna clean all the dirt off the suspension pieces everytime you wash your car

Since you are all talkin about suspensions...lemme ask one quick question. Right now I'm riding on prokits with stock struts/shocks. When I hit bump its like BAM. Which shocks do I need to get to soften that blow? I am building the fiberglass enclosure and if I keep the setup like it is now...the enclosure will be in peices after the first bump. Do they really make a big enough difference that it will absorb that much more impact then the stock Shocks? Just don't have the extra money to spend and don't want to get something that isn't going to make that much of a difference.
Let me know what would make my car absorb the most shock. Thanks guys.

well....a lowered vehicle is not gonna ride as pretty as stock....although i hear that full coil setups ride damn nice. I would imagine that a set of adjustable struts will do you rather nicely. You prolly blew your stockers by lowering your car IMO.
Strengthen up that glass IMO...i have seen horribly lowered cars rocking them crazy setups back up north and they were fine...Its all in design i guess :shrug

Aggression - Dude, aftermarket sturts are so needed after lowering your car. It helps out tremendously. If I didnt have struts (tokico blues) my bumper be gone. It helps out when going over bumps you don't have to slow down for every little bump. The won't blow as yours stock sturts blew probably. Also once the blow, your car bounces like a Bitch.
The car is also stiffer, for such as fast turning or braking. Just get some KYG struts or Tokico Illuminas or somethign and you will be satisfied and not have to slow down for bumps or even worrying about slowing down so your car doesn't bounce like an antique falling off a shelf.
I know cause Ryan had 18 motegi and Skunk 2 coilovers and stock struts. His sturts were blown and you could see liquid of the sturt being blown would we took his suspension apart. Also when he drove on a regular cement road his shit bounced and ur head would hit the roof.
As far as polishing the wheel wells. No need IMO. Paint it silverish for metal parts and paint the rest black. Thats all you can do or should do.

I sent the guy the money for the shocks earlier today. And right after I sent the money I came up and checked the 2gnt boards and had also made a post in the suspension/handling section before I made it here. The guys in the suspension/handling section said that I need Illumina's and that the blues won't give me the ride I'm needing and looking for. Please tell me I don't have to sell the blues and get the Illumina's now. You might see a brand new pair of front rear tokico blues for sale very soon. Damn I hate this.
I just wish I knew someone locally that had them so I could experience it before I purchased them.
