71412, blitz fiberglass rear question.... what do you guys think? Posted by ajcfalcon, Apr-26-04 01:22 PM
well, i dont have a camera so ill explain it the best i can. we all know what the blitz looks like, and im thinking about cutting off the peice that hangs off the bottom. it curvs in underneath the car and i think it looks kinda stupid, what do you guys think about me cutting it off?
its already been painted so would cutting it off be bad for the paint? like chipping and cracking issues and stuff?

Just use a dremel and cut it off.

If it's already been painted, it's too late to cut it off. Your paint will chip off at the edges if you try to cut it off. It might also spider web into more cracks. Just live with it for now...

you might be able to get away with just touch up paint or something. But you should of cut it before painting.

take some masking tape to create the line you want to cut off it. then use the dremel with a very fine blade to cut down the center of the tape. go very slow.
the tape should keep the paint from screwing up.. i did this procedure once with my evo 3 front end and it worked good. few chips etc.. but nothing noticeable.

I'll never use that damn spare anyway. The only reason I havent taken mine out is because it supports that flemsy ass plywood cover shit in the hatch.

If you just trim a little, it won't show the spare tire well. I've noticed a lot of blitz rears actually seem to come down really low and crooked in the middle. Here's mine cut:
