70837, Door Panel questions.... Posted by Pushin420a, Apr-15-04 05:55 PM
Ok guys most of you know about my mishap. Well I was wondering I found a set of black door panels on e-bay locally.
Is there a false panel on manual panels so I can put my power options in.
I know some people rewired them to the center console. But that is something I would not wanna do.
Also I was wondering if the make a black power door panel? SO I can just change out to that. I'm gonna sell my panels, I guess Krylon said I can just seal them with there clear coat, But I wanna just start over fresh.

If they are the cheap ones like mine without the bottom piece by the speaker then no, there is not a false panel. It is all one piece, the only thing that removes is the little handle to pull the door with. I dont know if there are different styles of non-power panels though.

there are 3 types of door panels iv seen for the 2g eclipse.
the first is the common RS non powered door panel. has a hole for the crank, no blanks. the little hand "cup" you use to close the door comes off by itself...not the larger slab which contains the switches on a power panel. for speakers it just has some slats cut into it.
the next are power style door panels....but they have a hole for the crank, and like above the cups come off w/o the larger peice like on door panels. no blanks. it does however have the map pockets and upgraded mesh speaker grills. not sure if this is plastic or vinyl
the last is the common power door panel. cup comes out with a section of plastic that houses switches inserts, map pockets, mesh grill covers....
i have only seen the manual gs style panels once. at first i thought he just modified his gs panels to accomidate a crank...but then he told me it came from the dealer that way. its a cross between the 2 most common panels. AFAIK they made black door panels for power and non power...for 97-99.

you can get grey ones and use that new platic paint.....what was the name of it...hmmnn cant think of it....oh yea fusion looks like it might work good. lmao
Sorry man couldnt resist.
Here is another idea....get the biege door panels....most were black on top beige on bottom. Look up jc whitney for the interior paint, i have used it and it is awesome for durability and look stock not high gloss. paint the bottom beige part. since the bottom is out of the sunlight, and does get handled much you will be in a lot better shape. Like i said though the stuff whitney sells is just like factory (black).
