you mean the piece that sticks up and holds the wheel? yes torch it, or get a dremel and get to work..
its beena whlie but at one time I wanted to do the same..

umm no

Yea I wanted to put an enclosure down there but once I saw what had to be done to get that out.. I said forget it and came up with another Idea which I will be even happier with.

Use a sawsall quick and painless.

cutting wheel was used on mine...or whatever they call teh uber dremel lookin things :shrug...there is sooooooo much space in there now.

drill out all the spot welds, thats all that holds it in there, you can see where they're all at too. just use a big enough bit to make sure u get the whole weld. when finished, put some tape underneath the holes, fill the holes with jbweld, then cover that with tape or grind it down once its dry. of course cover any bare metal with paint or something to avoid rust.

sawzall or cutoff wheel.....torch if your carefull. i wouldent be drilling holes in my underbody...too much work to repair and too much of a chance of rust or something going wrong imo

i just used my die cutter, it ate a brand new wheel by the time i was done and lit my hair on fire kinda from all the sparks, it was pretty easy though....just took some time
