ok, im going to get a 91 car that needs a paint job. anyone have any idea how much its going to cost? nothing exotic, just a straigt up paint job.

From my checking around, it varies per area but usually somewhere in the $1000-3000 range. I decided that I'd honestly rather just do it myself, and have the urethane pieces (bumpers) done by a shop to ensure the paint sticks.

Call around, no one will really be able to give you a quote unless they are from your area.

yea, im going to the shop that does all my body work on monday to see what they have to say. i just wanted to get a ballpark figure from you guys :)

if its just a go-fast car and you have youe 2gnt to drive daily... just get a 400 maaco paintjob... dont they warrenty for 4 years?

Yes, even the dust and bugs that end up getting caught in the paint itself are warrantied ;p

Maaco = No prep work, which = shit paint job.

Plus, the one in my area at least, uses some no-name brand of paint and won't allow you to provide your own.

it is my 'winter beater' haha. looks are important to me though, and its not getting a maaco paint job :)

im thinking of buff sanding it all down in the driveway before i take it to the shop too. might cut the bill down a little bit.

sand down all the paint to sheet metal.. and then clear it.. :thumbsup

i wonder what that would look like lol, its too bad the bumpers and other misc. body parts are plastic/urethane lol
