does anyone know where to buy new trunk shocks for a reasonable price? checker auto? mine barely hold open the hatch now (no spoiler). also does anyone know if new shocks will be able to hold open the hatch with an aftermarket spoiler (wings west commando). not too sure how much heavier it is than the stock spoilers.. if not anyone know if we can swap in any stronger shocks from elsewhere?

haha sorry if they're not called trunk shocks. i didn't know what else to refer to them as :P

I am not sure where to get them. But my stock ones held up my hatch with no problems until I put the wing on.

how old were your stockers when ya put on the wing? i'm kind curious if brand new shocks would be able to hold up an aftermarket wing... the only experience i've had w/ changing trunk shocks was with one've my parents vans. the old shocks couldn't even hold the gate up but the new ones made it so you almost had to hang on it to pull it down and close the trunk. mine are the originals as far as i know so they're like 10 years old... :(

True. Good point. New ones may hold it up then. I wonder how much more that wing weighs compared to a turbo wing?

I have the same problem with my Wings West GTR wing its heavy as hell. You could use my trunk lid now to do squats, over head press, and a few others...LOL!!! But no seriously its really heavy. Anyway I found a set of new shocks at Advanced Auto Parts. I have not replaced them yet, but I am going to within the next week or so.

I noticed a big difference of the shock performance depending on the weather. My shocks suck ass when it was cold, but it's pretty warm lately and my shocks holds up fine. I got a turbo wing on mine. But the shocks I found were too expensive... So, I'm sticking with my stockers. Let me know if you get some new ones that'll hold!
