Hey, to be honest, I didn't do it myself back in the day. The shop did it, so I can try to ask over the weekend if I go down there...but I assumed it was 400 grit final wet-sanded because that is what they told me I need to use on the day I am going to paint my car (metal though, so plastic "might" be different).
The body shop painted it with PPG paint, you can buy it in a can for about 40 bucks. Now that I think about it, I don't think they even needed to primer it. They just sprayed about 4 coats of paint, then 4 coats of clean coat, and its held up fine for about one and a half years. Even tho I scratched it with my key (when I miss the trunk hole) it hasn't come off or anything...you should be fine...good luck
