69038, Remote Truck release! installed Posted by gilee_8, Mar-18-04 02:15 PM
Sup guys... I did it today. got one thing on my list done. I can use my alarm remote to open the truck... SO NICE.
Ever since last year I can start, and drive with no keys. I feel very annoyed that I have to go to the front to open the truck. Now ... it's all wireless!!!

Now now Tim, let's give the boy a hand. 3 claps and 3 snaps in a Z formation.

Sorry guys... just realized I miss-spelled it.. I mean TRUNK.
Yeah, after searching here for 2 days, I went to www.slickcar.com to get the universal remote trunk release kit.
So nice now. Just one button and the trunk open by itself.
OH, One more thing, I changed both shocks or whatever-you-call it that push the hatch open, I changed them to a newer more powerful one. So now I can just push my remote, and the trunk pops right open. So cool.

Yeah man. Part number and specs? I need stronger ones to. I got band new ones from machv and they just slip the lid open about a centimeter. Just enough for me to stick a finger nail in then the lid lides the rest of the way. Stronger ones would be trick

Congratulations! Your eclipse now shares many features with ... a minivan...
when you're carrying grocery bags to the car, shopping for dinner for your husband.. kids running around going crazy... you dont have time to open the trunk or start the car!!
lol sorry... nice work
Does it have actuators of any kind to get the hatch past the ... I guess... point where the shocks lift it the rest of the way, or does it just pop the mechanism and you lift it up?

Did you say that you can start and drive your car without the keys? You do know that if you can do that, there's a thief out there just itching to find out about it. Something isn't wired up right imo. I would take every precaution to make sure no one could use my car without the keys. :o

Agreed. The remote starts i have had on my other cars were programmed so that unless the key was in the ignition the remote start would shut off when i tapped the brakes. I have always used the remote to start it, then i put the key in the ignition and drive off. If i didn't put the key in the ignition when i stepped on the brakes the engine would shut off. If you can honestly remote start the car then jump in and drive off without putting the key in the ignition something is not right at all imo. Sounds like a potential field day for thieves to me. good luck man, i'd check that wiring if i were you. COngrats on the trunk, sounds hot. im actually waiting on the relays for my alarm so i can do the same. I already have it set so my windows roll up/down at the touch of a button or if the windows are down and you set off the alarm they'll close on that ass. I've been slacking on setting up the trunk. good job man.

I use something else VERY hightech. Yes, if I use remote start, as soon as I open the door or the brake, or handbrake or gear, the car will goes off. ONLY if I unlock the alarm. Even without remote start, I can get on the car and start the car with no key also and drive around with no key.
And nup... I got digital key and security that no one can steal my car if I lock my car. so it's save!
Gil
P.S. the digital key is a electric lock that used in computer that if I lock that, then my WHOLE car ignition will have no power, so they can't start my car!

idk he'll prolly post back eventually. he did figure out how to do a custom turbo kit so maybe he does actually have a custom security setup. just as long as he didn't super glue anything :P
i think a lot of people would be interested on where you found your trunk shocks, gilee. especially people with aftermarket wings whose trunks don't stay open. keep us updated :thumbsup
