ok, with all the body kits out there to choose from are ther any that actually provide TRUE aerodynamic advantages? :shrug
i guess im looking at somthing with a carbon front splitter that i can adjust the downforce on. (not ricey, just race) and some type of carbon rear splitter like on the dodge viper GTS-R. im building the suspension to match the performance that i want, somthing along the lines of HKS's track attack cars. so i would like the aerodynamics to actually work. :evilgrin
also, i heard that front drive cars dont need much in terms of down force in the rear, is this true? if so, anybody got any ideas on a lowprofile carbon wing?

Bomex body kits are built with aerodynamics in mind...there have been numerous discussions on teh benefits, or lack thereof, of downforce on a FWD. I couldn't tell you anything about it though....try and search :shrug
For a low pro CF wing check out www.importfan.com. they jus made one, not sure if it is up for sale yet.

first, Bomex is about the only kit I know that does the aerodynamics thing with a body kit, there may be others, but you'll probably be searching Japan for 'em....
secondly, there IS a point for downforce on a FWD, no matter if you have RWD or not, you can still drift if you're going fast enough...more often than not you WONT if you have a FWD, but it is possible(depends on corner, speed, etc) but, you'll want more downforce on the front to keep the downforce in the rear from causing traction loss(back goes down, front goes up, in most cases) in the front

Our car is gonna be more aerodynamic w/o any kit on (less drag), unless you succesfully produce a vacuum underneith the car.
If you want aerodynamic, shave the body, don't add things, or leave it how it is and enjoy having a .28 drag coefficient, the same as a Viper.

throw the sheets under like ^ said...shave everything like chrysler kid said...grab an rmdsm lip or something similar and call it a day IMO.
Only thing i could really see being an issue with only having a front lip would be too much downforce in teh front...could potentially lift the rear and cause traction loss that is needed to keep the ass stable...I would throw an rmdsm lip and do some research on aerodynamics for a complimenting rear spoiler...My $0.02 IMO :shrug

Unless you get above 100mph regularly, aero parts are only going to be useful at looking cool. I think the best idea would be to make the undercar plates to pull downward. Formula 1 style. ;)

...I do *2*-*3* regularly, about everyday, there is a nice stretch of ***** at about *'clock. the way it works is that our cars need little or no downforce in addition to what we already have at speeds of up to about 120, after that, to sustain high speed stability, yes you will actually need a wing, the factory turbo wing is supposed to provide somewhere over 150 lbs of downorce at high speed. At low speed with a wing you decrease front tire traction making your acceleration hurt (only really matters if you have enough power to actually move). For high speed turns, which is what I like you are going to want nothing more than about 22mm ways in the front and 17-19 in the rear, for serious autocrossing I'd recommend 21-22 front and rear, but on a high speed turns you want to increase front wheel traction and decrease it in the rear wheels, if you don't know your car well and keep some understeer. I have 22mm front and rear and power slide 100+ mph turns, not everybody is really ready for sliding their car at over 100 miles an hour. I have no wing, body kit sides skirts or door caps
Anyway this is what I've encountered from experience

thanks guys! :thumbsup i found a rear difuser that is in the "test Fitment" stage so we will see what rear it actually fits.
i like the underbody idea! do thay make sheets of fiberglass so i can test fit this idea before i spend my left nut on real carbon/kevlar?
is there anyone besides Bomex? they look high quality, just wondering on styles and the posibility of doing carbon or kevlar.

SO....it does actually work...I thought it did, with it's odd shape and and height...but, one question...what do you consider high speed....75+...100+...125+ ?

Only positive = ton more visibility...
quite frankly I think all bodykits and exterior trimmings should be looked at ONLY from a styling perspective. If you're going to rice the shit out of your car then go around on the internet saying "OMG I HAEV DOWNFOARC!!" you're just going to get laughed at. Same applies to the real world.

"A diffuser allows the air traveling underneath the car a place to expand and decelerate back to road speed as well as providing wake infill. As the air enters towards the front of the car it accelerates and reduces pressure. There is a second suction peak at the transition of the flat bottom and diffuser. The diffuser then eases this "high velocity" air back to normal velocity and also helps fill in the area behind the race car making the whole underbody a more efficient downforce producing device by reducing drag and increasing downforce.
Understand that a true flat bottomed car (one without a diffuser) will produce downforce in and of itself when run in rake. Essentially the entire flat bottom becomes one large diffuser. It too has two suction peaks, one upon entrance, the second at the trailing edge of the flat undertray. A diffuser acts to enhance this underside suction, it acts like a pump, encouraging better flow under the car.
One thing to note is that the rear wing interacts with the diffuser "driving" it. The proximity of the low pressure side of the rear wing encourages better flow through for the underbody." ©Copyright 1999-2000, Michael J. Fuller
