got bored with the stock OZ 16's, so i uh, spraypainted them gunmetal! Calipers too, didnt prep either. Well the rims i cleaned decently. they all came out REALLY good, and i only used one can of base coat and one can of clear (both the duplicolor wheel paint). I was suprised, i wonder how long until the paint peels off and the wheels turn silver again....

and yes, i painted the calipers on the car, and didnt mask off anything. no i dont care if they heat up and the paint peels. no i didnt put the wheel weights back on. yes i do work at belle tire, and yes i'm going to balance them with sticky weights tomorrow morning. and i MIGHT put the center caps back, but i doubt it right now, kinda like it w/o

edit: oh, and yes i just replied to my own post

The wheels look good gunmetal...

However, the tires, the rotors, the hubs, the brake pads... do not look good gunmetal...

the tires have a nice coat of shit on them thats covered with paint, i just put the wheels back on the car so i'll wipe them off tomorrow and they'll be nice and black. the hub, you don't see. the pads will take care of the paint on the rotors. thanks for the good comments though :thumbsup

I think it looks pretty damn good. Really compliments your hood.

unless you run into curbs all the time, that paint will stick on the rims for a long while. shit, i spray painted the rims on my old '89 colt for fun and a year later (when i sent a rod through the oil pan going 110...yes...in a colt) it still looked perfect, lol.

yeah i need to paint my hubs

I just put like 3 coats of high-temp paint on the caliper... newspaper masking all the important stuff off and it's stayed on pretty well...

suggestions on what to do with the hub? i'm pretty sure i wanna leave the caps off. how much do you think it'll be to replace the visible parts, because i'm sure that its rusted up pretty damn good

why do you want to leave the caps off?

maybe just paint them gunmetal too?

Sorry but I like those rims in silver a lot more. I also painted my stock rims gunmetal and I liked it at first, but then later changed my mind. It looks okay, but I just think silver tends to look better on most car colors.

its ok, because my summer rims are silver, and its almost time to whip them out. they'd be on already if i wasnt scared shitless of summer tires in winter conditions.

edit: another reason that i did this: it cost me 10$, and previous to me painting them, they were scraped all up from me hitting curbs. they look alot better now than they did before.

i painted my 18" racing hart c3 evo's with the SAME shit. it wont chip dude, how many layers did you do? by the looks of it you did a really good job :) i masked off the lip and did gunmetal with a polished lip on my black talon, i just need new rubber for the wheels and some new springs to lift me up some and im golden, i'll take some pics later once i get em on

props dude! looks damn good. good to see someone uses duplicolor here :thumbsup, they kick ass imo...people just have no skills with it

how long did you spend sanding? painting and sanding go hand in hand. you use the clear coat from duplicolor too?

yeah i used the duplicolor wheel clearcoat, didn't sand them at all. i put two coats of base and two coats of clear. only reason i'm worried about chipping is because of the lack of prepping.

They look good, however I am partial to the silver...I'd agree with the other post, paint the center if you leave off the caps..
