67729, Window Replacement Posted by kannonk, Feb-27-04 06:38 AM
Hey, has anyone tried buying pieces of Lexan and making a rear window? The sheets are only like $50 but the kit by flex-a-lite is $500 for the rear half. I'm wondering how to do it and how it works out or am I better off buying the kit? And does anyone else make the rear window? Does $500 sound right?

if by rear window you mean hatch, the reason it costs so much is because our glass is curved. if it was flat it would be simple and cheap and anyone could do it. but with the curvature it throws a curve. not just anyone can shape lexan perfectly. somehow if you got it to heat evenly you may could use your stock glass as a sort of mold. youll learn that curved glass/lexan will always carry a hefty price tag
