iight, as some of you might have relized i am too cheap to pay for anything to be done. I installed my turbo spoiler my self but still need to paint the patched holes. What i am doing is epoxoy, bondo, prime, paint clear coat. That sound right to you?

also, when painting mirros can i just sand them down and prime/paint/clear coat them?

How would i go about painting my door handles? I know how to take them apart, but do i just paint right over the black?

If the paint on the handles and mirrors is not chipped badly you can prep and sand them, then shoot the new paint over them. The thicker the layers of paint (both old and new) the worse the chips will be when they get hit with rocks etc. I prefer to sand them down to the base material because later, a thin layer of paint will chip less. On my door handles I stripped the old paint with lacquer thinner and it worked fine. I did a light coat of primer and then several light coats of color and then three light coats of clear. I buffed them a little by hand after about a week (lightly) and then about 1 month later when the paint was really cured I buffed them to a nice shine. If you buff them too early, before the paint is fully cured, the shine won't hold as well. Wait it out a few weeks and then finish it. For buffing I wet sand flat areas only with 1000-1200 grit and then use a polishing compound. On small parts its easy to burn through the paint on the edges so go slow.

if you didn't weld up those holes the paint will be cracking in the near future. Being cheap can come back to bite you down the road.

why would it just chip? That epoxy has crazy strength ratings? Epoxy with bondo and mesh? Eventually if i run into someone with a welder ill have him do it for me. But i am not paying them 250 dolalrs to weld 5 screw holes and paint it for me:puke

Bondo or fiberglass for hole filling can work out depending on the prep work and the environment. With large temperature changes materials expand and contract at different rates. As miniscule as it sound it can eventually lead to failure of the bond. Add a little flexing of the panel when you slam the trunk, hit the pot holes, etc. and it can all add up. Also, no repair is completely waterproof. Water vapor can travel through about everything that's not metal. That can accelerate the failure too.

All that being said, if you prep the area well and take care to do a good job it can last way longer than you'll own the car.
