has anyone ever tried to paint thier exhaust heat shield? will heat resistant eninge paints work on the heat shield? I know that thing gets really damn hot so am worried the paint might burn off. also does anyone have any other inexpensive suggestions to make my engine bay look better? I already have blue wire loom and a blue CAI. thanks in advance for any help

No don't do it I tryed to do that and I stiped off 2 nuts and snaped 1 right off. So I had to have them drilled out and replaced. What I did was I got it off and sanded the piss out of it and and pohlished the hell out of it with a dremal tool of corse. I was geting headers but every one told me the set I was going to get was shit so i got me a nice old Stock heat sheald :-)

Oh and the paint discolors very soon I used stainless steel wich went to gold and then to ugly green and then to a nights work of sanding.

you stripped the bolts when you tried to take the heat shield off?

Those bolts can get pretty rusted, but just spray some penatrating oil on them first and let them sit for about a half hour. The two bolts on the bottom and the one on the left side you will need a 10mm wrench for, because a socket wont fit for those. If you paint it use 1500 degree paint because the 500 degree paint will discolor. I tried polishing mine first, but it's not good metal to polish, no matter how long you polish it for it won't look like polished aluminum or chrome. I polished it the same way as my valve cover, but it didn't come out good. Eclipse550hp how did yours come out.
