$1499 for some hinges and a shock? That's freakin rediculous. Period. Is there a way you can take some pics of the hinges showing detail and scan in the instructions that came with them? Someone out there needs to produce these things...If they were $500 I'd buy some, but not $1500 that's just freakin rediculous.

Well it's about marketing in my opinion. There's no way producing those things costs that much money. And if you can sell 6 sets for $500 or 1 for $1500 it makes fuckin sense to lower the price.

I think you just volunteered my friend. Let me know when I can buy some from you. ok. thanks.

I agree. How hard could it be to have a shop machine these hinges? I bet you could get a good deal if you could make them yourself.

I would like to see close up pics of the hinges anyway, and the instructions just to see how involved this is.

me 3, i cannot fathom how they can be so expensive for just a hinge. maybe i am wrong.

anyone of you ever considered time and money spent on developing these kits? The shock costs money too..and material and time spent to make them work..Geez..lighten up guys. In a while they will be cheaper casue more ppl will make htem..but its always like this..The persons who develope will pay most of the cost and tehrefore take more money for their product then some other guy who comes later and just copy the idea.

that would be cool to get some close up pics. also, did it come with mounting instructions? that would be cool too if you could get those up. i have a hook up with a machine shop at work so i might be able to get something cookin.

it would of even been nicer to take pictures with them off of the car....i was almost going to try and make some of these before, but i had no idea how to mount the shock...its tougher than it seems, you need to pull the door out say bout 2"...then go up...but it cant come out any more than 2", and cant fall on the windsheild when its up either.... i might be willing to pay around 500 for one

Hmmm we'll see how bored I am this summer (I know its awhile away) and how much I learn from my engineering courses.

I already have some diagrams drawn up for them - I still gotta figure out all the technical aspects and such though ;)

As it is right now these things are WAY to expensive!!!

I'm glad you guys are bringing this up because I was very pissed when I paid the 1500 for my hinges and wanted copies made. I went to a machine shop to ask if he could make them and he said there is no way he could and even with a CNC machine it would be hard. So I went to 2 more shops and both of them said the same thing so I was like damm I'm stuck w/ one pair. The hinges come with instructions but the pictures are so blurred and printed in black and white inc that its pointless to look at them.

I did a little searching a while back for lamborghini kit car hinges, and turned up some pics and hinge close-ups. It doesn't seem too dificult. If it's not on the internet...it's not worth wondering about!

I've got some pics if anyone who's REALLY interested in attepting to make these wants them. There's more to the design than you can imagine. The door shocks have to be the right strength, and they need to go up with little pressure, and come back down fairly easy...and have to be able to swing out like stock without flying up. Has to clear the fender and A pillar...etc. It's complicated, but with the right resources and ambition can design and build these.

If someone wants to give me the dimmensions for it my roomate can make tons of those. He works at a machine shop his grandfather owns so it wouldn't be hard for him. He just told me he would sell those for hella cheap too like 200-300.

No Poop!!!

I would buy them too for that price in a minute. Looking at the pics posted above though, man those are some cheesy lookin hinges. I'm sure someone could design them better just based on the dimensions.

Lets not let this Idea die. I'm game.

A laser table would be the ideal machine to cut these on. From what I see in the pics above you'd need to burn out the shape of the hinge, do some bending and a little welding. I would think if you did a production run of 100 pcs or so you could manufacture these for less than $100 + the shock (I have no idea what they would cost). If someone could get their hands on some of these I could reverse them and quote them through my shop. Looks to me like somebody's laughing all the way to the bank.

If you work at a shop, perhaps they would make the initial investment. If we have enough people commited to buying them at say $300 a set then you could make your money back I bet in less then a week.

Why would I give a shit on what you do? I am no vendor of these kits and I have no page or similar to close.
I am just stating the , to most ppl obvius, fact that any product costs to develope. Whatever the product may be it will always cost most from the ones who came up with the idea and developed the actual system to make it work. Now alot o ppl will come and just copy it and they never spent a dime on labour cost and time during the try out and development. See what I mean? If you come up with an idea..you need to make it work and if its likein these cases made for each and every model of a car then you need to make at least one custom for each model...right? Well that takes time and time costs money..simple as that? Same as with a bodykit...first mold/plug takes time to make/shape/form and alot of time is spent on this..and there fore its more expencie...But the ones who just take the kit and copies it can sell it for less since they just ...copied it.
And if you have hired staff to do these things they need salary and employee fees and insurance etc etc + companies have to pay rent for their facilities...wich you dont have to do if you make it yourself.Your time doesnt cost money and your flat doesnt cost anything extra just because you sit at home and make something for your car. You only pay for parts as is.Of course it will be alot cheaper then what a company can get it done for.Geez..pretty basic stuff.

What in this is it you dont understand?

I am not saying the price is all fair...but I understand that they charerge more then any one can make them for at a privat level.

Still waiting for some kind of dimensions. If I don't get any we will probably mess around and design some of our own this spring/summer.

well I figure no one is going to take the time to give me the measurements that I need. So like i said we will be fucking around with these things and making our own designs. I will keep you updated.
