Just wanted to let you guys and girls know that Krylon makes a pretty damn good rattle can paint called FUSION that is for plastic parts. I just put about 6 light coats fo red on my HVAC/radio bezel and let it dry overnight. Popped it in this morning and it looks nice, I need to find a good clear coat I can finish it up with. Their red matches OE red color well, too.

Anyone suggest a particular clear coat for interior pieces or other good paint for plastic?

duplicolor worked fine for me. Got the primer, color matched paint, and clearcoat from them and it's been a year and still holding up fine

I'm using the red pepper color...very nice along with a silver metallic engine enamel...looks nice together!

My fusion started failing after 6 months and now it looks like shit :shrug

(5 coats of base done properly and 3 coats of clear)

It started looking like crap already? hmmm.... That kinda makes me want to try using primer and regular spray paint for some of the others....

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will stick to the Fusion for now so the color matches. 6 months down the road I might do it all over again though :shrug

I'm redoing mine in black gelcoat

I used plain old Rustoleum (because I had no0bs - not because I'm afraid my plastic will rust). Did the trim in Silver. It's held up to a break in so far and is more than a year old. I'm thinking I'm pushing 2 years the more I think about it. The only one wearing is my door handle trim since I didn't use clear and it gets rubbed by sleeves and hands a dozen times a day. :P

If you all are looking for something that works VERY well, do a search on google for....SEM Color Coat vinyl dye.

I have used it in my car on plastic and on the vinyl. Works beautifully. All I did to prep was use a mild degreaser to get all the Amor-All etc off the parts. Then I washed the parts with Dawn dishwashing detergent. Then I just sprayed it on in light coats.

They do have primer and adhesion promoters etc if you wanna use those. I found it unecessary.

I used the Satin Black and it has NOT faded and has NOT scratched off in over a year.

They offer a variety of colors as well.

i used SEM on mine and its held up great after almost 2 years. i recommend it to everyone that asks me. the fire red color matches oem pretty good, but not perfect.
