I ripped this out of a GSX at a junkyard and the guy said it originally sold for 75 bucks but gave it to me for 25...i thought it was a good deal so i went for it. The only thing the black matches is the platic panel covering the A/C heat knobs...i dont think it looks half bad though, plus the armrest is nice...what do you guys think?

Why did you need a new one, j/w? All consoles are the same except some dont have an arm rest/compartment but you can swap it with a used one in 5 minutes. Thats about the first thing i did when i got my rs.

I got the new one because on my stock blue one or whatever color that is, where there was a spot for your arm to rest, (not an actual armrest) the paint was all chipped off and looked like ass. Also, the cover to my ash tray was missing, and trust me this looks better. Heres what the old one looked like...

I know the colors not a match but it looks better imo. I think i might go back and try to pick up some of the other pieces though.

Sorry dude, it does not match. I'd paint the rest black, or get it in grey, or if you don't care, leave it.

dude.....go back to that junkyard and yank the whole rest of the interior....you could either make some dough off that or get a pimp ass black interior.

what if you keep your stock one and just swap in the arm rest and the ash tray and the cup holder cover? then at least there wouldn't be that abrupt change on the sides of the radio... not sure how the black ashtray/cupholder/armrest would look w/ your bluish pieces though.. might look ok actually - being that when some people paint accents they paint the ashtray cover and cup holder cover.

I'm with BuckNutty on the complete Black interior! Hard to get!!! But it is the best looking...IMO.

It doesn't look too bad, but, yea, get the rest of the dash board and it'll look a lot better. I you paint it, use that interior spray and not krylon. Other than that, it works and looks okay.

I'm using the Krylon Fusion...looks friggin' awesome...IMO...2 coats primer...1 coat Fusion...1 coat Clear...1 coat Fusion...1 last coat Clear...awesome I tell ya, AWESOME!!!

Krylon Fusion has no need for a primer. It already bonds to plastic. o well.

I was just thinking about it and the only problem with getting the entire black interior would be the dash. Thatd be a PITA to get the dash out of there with all the airbag crap, especially at a junkyard. I dont think it would be a problem getting the two bottom pieces that go on each side of the center console, and even the door moldings, but i dont think that dash is changing without paint.

If you can get it out, and it in a good condition, if it dont cost too much i'd buy the black dash from you, I HATE the grey interior and wanna switch it all over to black, and do AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO NOT PAINT IT

I know...I had it and wanted to get rid of it...so I used it to seal a few scratches that were on my pieces...filled 'em pretty good

My center console is painted all black, like your GSX console. Even though is doesn't match it still looks good. None of my friends notice the black/grey differences.

Doesn't look to bad to me.

When I first looked in the window of my eclipse, before I bought it, I hated the black/tan interior. I thought it was the ugliest thing.

Now I love it :7

Why not do that? Only black/gray...until you can get it all black? I am probably just talking out my ass, it was just an idea, and a dumb one I'm sure, at that. :P

I have the black/tan interior, but i want to paint some of it red... should i sand down the black paint b4 i paint it red? and should i sand down the tan b4 i paint it black?

I have no means of trying 2 steal the post, just quick ?, and ya id work on goin all/mostly black, its pimp.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO THE BLACK PIECES!!!1!! They are worth their weight in gold IMO. If you are gonna paint, then get some grey panels and sell the black ones. Some people wold keel for those pieces. As for the prepping question....you should always sand it down and prep it properly before painting anything.

Goin back to the junkyard this weekend to try to get the panels around the center console, and this may sound stupid, but since i dont feel like taking the entire door panels off, im going to take out the inner door handle things, kind of giving it a two-tone look. It may end up looking retarded but i guess i'll just hafta wait and see :thumbsup

Don't use Krylon Fusion. I know the guy up ^^^ there is excited about it, and I was too when I first painted my interior. 6 month later it started failing and now it just looks like shit.


And I did: 4 coats Fusion, 3 coats clear (on black area) 4 coats fusion (as a primer), 5 coats Duplicolor, and 3 coats clear (on the Cayenne Red area)


Now my interior looks like ass. I'm trying to find all black interior too.
