65558, Ideas on where I can install gauge Posted by bokchoi, Jan-21-04 06:07 PM
I have a 2 1/16 a/f ratio gauge and am trying to figure out where I can place it. I've seen people on these posts where they placed it on the cigarette lighter location which looked pretty nice, but I wasnt sure how they did it. If anybody has any new ideas or can post pics that would be nice, thanks.
P.S. Trying to think of other ideas besides using gauge pods. I currently have one of those air vent replacements that allows you to place three gauges, but decided to put the vent back on.

a pillar pod is a good investment dood...or the cool bezel pods that go around your steering hub and hold two gauges. The cigarette lighter thing is easy to install....jus cut the hole and mount it in and tap into neccessary wires...you could put it in your center consile someplace...maybe cut into your cup holder and put it there?? :shrug

^^^^ that is what I would do. I think the pillar looks better but it is harder to read. Plus I have heard guys on here say that their pillar and gauges got stolen. Good luck.

if you wanted to do the gauge in the cig lighter thing and still have the use of a power outlet, just move the cig lighter over to the hole where the lighting rheostat is. mine crapped out on me (rheostat) and i wanted to put a key'd nitrous switch where the factory lighter was anyways, so i just took out the non functioning rheostat and put in the cig lighter. i actually ended up getting an aftermarket lighter and putting it in there so no need to run the bulb wire and everything. when i get home ill take a pic of my setup. otherwise, if you wanted stealth you can put a gauge in the drivers side vent (the one in the door) or the one mentioned above that fits around the stock gauges

if you have any HKS Electronics to go along with this, (S-AFR, IPM, AIC, etc) i would look into getting a case from HKS.
it holds 2 HKS electronic components and a 46mm gauge and fits in a DIN slot beneth the radio if you can get someone to do a really good job boring it for you, you can get it to 52mm. i did mine, and it was REAL close.
it is called the "Type-A" and they sat it is for a Nissan but with a little patience it will fit.
best bet is to look on e-bay since they are a JDM item, dont pay more than $30 though, its not that rare. good luck
