was it hard? what kind of texture looks closest to stock? what kind of adhesive did you use?

did you put vinyl over plastic?

I tried to do my headliner and after spending $40 on vinyl and pissing myself off big time I quit trying. I didn't have a heat gun so I should have expected it, but it's a LOT harder than I thought it wuold be. Now if you're just wanting to do the insert then that's cake. Just get some vinyl that matches and use spray adhesive from a fabric store. But if you're gonna do the whole door, good luck with the contours ;)

this guy did it in some ugly colors, but did the whole interior in vinyl. he has a few big threads in the int/ext section over at tuners.

I redid some pieces in vinyl. I didn't like the texture tho, so i took it off. If you can find a texture like the stock vinyl it will look good. Anyway, you can get vinyl at any fabric store. You'll also need a heat gun, and a vinyl tool (don't know the name, but there's a special tool), i just used a roller, a spoon, and a butter knife lol. And finally you need HEAT TEMP adhesive, otherwise when it's hot, the glue will melt and cause your vinyl to fall off. They sell high temp (250 deg. i think) adhesive on www.selectproducts.com

Spray the area you want to cover GENEROUSLY with adh. heat the vinyl up a little, and work it over the areas and into the corners etc. using spoon, roller etc., and small amounts of heat. Too much heat will melt the vinyl. Thats all the steps i took. I wish i had pics to show.

Just a warning to MAKE SURE you get high temp adhesive, don't cheap out. I did my headliner with felt using regular adhesive (3M), and when i parked my car in the sun, it melted and i had a REALLY saggy headliner. I then redid it using the adh. from select products, and haven't had problems since, even parked in the sun in 90 degree weather.

vinyl is not easy to work w/, as others have mentioned, lol.

if you live some place warm, i suggest you just set it out in the sun for an hour or so, that will "loosen it up" quite a bit. depending on the color, you might want to wair gloves when handling it though, as it may become QUITE hot. then using an appropriate glue (like what he^^^said), start on one corner and work your way to the other. use a heat gun in a constantly variable fashion to distribute heat over piece that need to be formed. to do this, use the gun in the same motion you would use to paint w/ a brush. it you hold the heat over one spot for too long it can mess up the vinyl, and youll have to start over. THE MOST important part is to follow the directions on the adhesive to a T. you dont want to be stretching out a section only to have a corner of the vinyl to peel up where youve already thought it was secure.

what if your door panels are manual window/locks and dont have a insert?I dont want to buy new panels but was wonderin how to add a little vinyl or fabric to the doors so their not all plastic.

im gonna be putting vinyl of plastic.... my doors are 3/4 inly 1/4 plastic.

i was told you need a heatgun, that a hairdryer wont heat the vinyl up enough....they run 10-15$ on ebay...

i redid my door panels....just the part that was covered in cloth...me and my friend did it...they turned out not too bad...i just stripped off the cloth, and all the foam, and used 3m spray glue...it worked ok...but make sure u cut the peices with about 2-4 inch slack....heres a pic...if u have ?'s just IM me...peace
