64657, Eclipse taillight questions!
Posted by 95ESi, Jan-07-04 05:38 PM
I need to for the rear taillights which light lights up when?

-> inner light is the light near the center section

- parking lights on
- turn signal
- brake

I know that at least one light is a dual filament bulb, but I don't know which position.

thanks!

The two inner ones are breaks and turn signals and the outer two are simply just markers.

1 2 blinks

and

2 3 are for brakes?

which goes on when headlights are on? just 1 and 3?

No, 2 and 3 are the only ones that have the brighter circuit (brake/flash). 1 will only be dim and only turn on with the running lights. all three will light up when you turn the headlights on.

Do this: turn you headlights/flashers/blinkers on and get out, walk around to the back of your car, and observe!

"I need to for the rear taillights which light lights up when?" <----and I have no idea what you are asking with that question.

LOL, let me rephrase:

I need to KNOW for the rear taillights which light lights up when?

It sure makes a difference missing one keyword, huh..

OK, the reason why I ask is that I have a Talon and not an Eclipse. I've put on Eclipse tail lights, but I need to wire it correctly. The lighting in a Talon behaves differently than an Eclipse. So turning on the lights and walking around the back wouldn't help me much. I wouldn't ask if I could have done that! :)

Really confused now! :(

Correct me if I am wrong, the far outside light (#1) doesn't blink or get brighter, it just turns on when the headlights are on?

The middle light (#2) is for?

And the third light (#3) is?

Then how come the Eclipses that are imported to Japan have the outside light blink (#1)? (The outside portion of the taillight is also painted amber too.)

Any help is appreciated..
thanks!

I did this conversion with VERY similar tails... I dunno if the way I put my lights in were legal, but i did not rewire them, just put them where they'de reach...so here's what I ended up with

123 321

1s and 3s are on when the park/headlights are on and brighten with the brake lights, 2s are the signals

I really love the way it looks, at night from a distance it makes it look almost like some kind of exotic, and with the turn signals between the brake lights it's unique, I was orginally worried about them being visible from the corners and such, but they are more than visible... those on the corners(at least on my tails) ARE NOT LIGHTS, they have a clear plastic piece between them and the lights(kinda like how gauges work), they arent very bright, but do their job as corner markers... I'll get pics up ASAP....

I only got stock eclipse tails right now, but I'm planning to get tails like those :)

I just used those pics so you can see the three individual lights :)

So is this how it's supposed to be?

123 321

1 is the turn signal that just blinks

2,3 illuminates with the headlights on, and gets brighter when you hit the brakes??

Right now it's behaving like this :P

123 321

1,2 lights on
and only 3 blinks/brakes

weird!

What i'm gonna do is get a sequencer for the tails(about $80, hard to find except on ebay, lol) and have it to where all 3 are on with the with headlights/corners, and for the signals sequence 3 - 2 -1 in this same bulb set up:

123 321

Kind of like the old Cougars, I've seen a Mustang with Altezzas and the sequenced tails, and have also seen an eclipse with stock tails and the sequenced lights, they look pimp IMO

as for the way your lights are, that IS weird..and a lil dangerous IMO as well, you need at least 2 to go on with your brakes, just so they'd be bright enough for the fucktard behind you, who's talking on his cellphone and tailgating, he may not react if he doesnt see alot of light, lol

What's a sequencer?

Actually I rechecked, the only light the blinks for turn signal is the inside one near the center. The rest is illuminated when the headlights are on, and brightens when I brake.

So, should the turn signal be on the outside? I guess it really doesn't matter which is which...as long as you got two lights on each side for brakes?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33717&item=2447606199 there's the auction where I learned about the sequencer

as for the turn signals, what I did was tried it in the 2 places it would reach, the ones on the inside, and then the ones in the middle... To be SAFE, after they were in, I turned on the emergency flashers, then walked around and stood at the corner, nearly beside the tailights, a few feet away, and made sure I could see them at that point(you may have to wander to find where I'm talking about, lol). The reason for this is that if there is a car near there, that's roughly your blind spot, and it's hard to see them even if you look(at night anyway) and if you wanted to change lanes and someone was there, you'd want them to know that you wanting over and hopefully they would either speed up and go on around, or back off and let you go on. I barely could with the ones near the centerpiece, but the ones in the middle do a good job of it, OR you could just find the wiring plans and have them ALL on with tails, ALL brighten with brakes, and ALL flash with the signals... although I dont know these plans, but would like to.
