I see it this way...the problem with our cars being relatively Not fast (meaning most of us NA's cant break 15.9) is not because of the 420's power output but it is our WEIGHT. our cars are hundreds of pounds heaver than these hondas out here. NA is a good way to go, i however think you should go on a SERIOUS diet even if you consider making some good et's. Some one on this board who is NA should do some serious research on the benefits of stripping down the body weight maybe develop a CARBON FIBER HATCH with some of that plastic glass. I think we all know that the HP to weight ratio is in my book by far the most important factor one has to consider...........thats why you have s2000s(240hp) beating up on (350hp) Crustangs....... so i say this lets start posting more weight loss ideals in the interior and exterior section....

Weight loss suggestion- Besides getting rid of your backseat, sparetire, subwoofer box, nagging backseat driver wife...
The width/height of my tires seemed to make a weight difference. My car seem so much slower with 235/45/17 compared to 215/40/17. I'm using 215/45/17 because the 40s made my wheels look tiny. If i wasn't so vain, i'd be rolling thos 40s again because my car was more zippy with them.

The rebars are like 30 pounds each. Take those off and u have 60 less pounds, but less protection if you get in an accident.

The problem I am having is in the removel but keep looking good.... My car is also my driver.. so when I remove the backseats.. I want something there to make it looks nice.. not just a peice of clean carpet. I mean take out the passanger seat and you got a big hunk of metal sitting where the seat use to be..

That's right Klipz, also what they use for "fake glass" is called LEXAN and can be bought at Home Depot, but it is very expensive, probably about $60-80 for the rear hatch (off the top of my head, I work there BTW). Anyway LEXAN is virtually unbreakable, put it this way if it broke, whatever broke it would have broken the GLASS one. It won't fade or yellow either (supposedly, not sure about that one). It is flexible but I don't know if you can directly replace the glass with it, drag cars will use rivets. Someone do this so I feel more confident doing it myself, I don't know if I want to remove the rubber crap around the old glass and not be able to replace it or something.

I don't have exact #s or anything....but.
I was about to dynamat the car, had the entire interior, carpet seats, spare tire, jack, seatbelts, counsol, doorpanels, everthing up to the actual dash was removed from the inside of the car but the driver's seat. for mods at the time I had stock wheels/tires, greddy catback, a cai, and I had about 90k on the car. also, I had no gas in the car, my light was just starting to go on.
I rolled up next to another 2gnt with 18s(the ones I have now actually), hks catback, aem cai, and 45k on the car. it was a rolling start(bout 30-35), and I just dusted his ass by like 2-3 car lengths and was still pulling. we pulled off to bs a little and he thought he was racin a gst.

LAST EDITED ON 05-Jul-01 AT 11:50 PM (PST)Seriously... a 2000lb neon runs 12.8s with ONLY 182hp 145hp ft-lb!!!!!! (Mopar Now! Summer 2001)
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Now that's some serious weight loss for us.. but just look at the potential!!!!!
Of course, I just add mods so that I can keep the weight ;-) I mean I *really* want a small sub just to keep my music clean...
you're all also forgetting fiberglass fenders, and hoods.. Unfortunately all the fenders I have seen are a royal pain in the ass to mount...

i woulda got the z3 fenders to lighten the ride more but the stock ones aren't heavy enough to really make a difference and my car would have more vents than the air conditioning system in the white house!
