I only like aluminum wings on cars that are lowered and kitted. If they aren't lowered and kitted it gives the appearance that the car is too high off the ground.

But you gotta realize 90% of the cars that are on this site are 17 second cars. And also, 99% are front wheel drive.

They belong on race cars that can actually use what they are purposley for. Definalty not a 2GNT even if it is a 14 second one.

There is no good looking park bench out there. My friend has one on his spyder but look at it, what else would you have done to make it look nice? I've already riped him a couple of times for it.

Aluminum wings DON'T belong on a 2GNT :thumbsdown. Period. Any downforce created by the wing at speed aversely affects handling by pushing down on the rear which pulls up the front where YOUR DRIVE WHEELS ARE. Other than that, they look ridiculous, they belong on race cars that need them and that's about it.

I don't particularly like alluminum wings on any car. For some reason, I thought they were "m4d tite y0" back when I first got my car. Thank god I never got one. Anyways, I've always liked this one.

if any of you actually watched speed channel and saw racing, theres tons of fwd cars with wings on the back racing. I'm not talking about like drag racing or just ricers out on the road either. These are full blown race cars with fwd and wings on road courses. why don't you go tell them they are ricey and the wing don't help :rolleyes

you act like there's no downforce on the front of the car. if you want to argue the physics of it then also look at the curve of the hood on the angle of the windshield. these create downforce on the front of the car. if these are greater then the downforce at the rear then turning at speed could cause the rear of the car to spin around. it's not for RWD only.

now the peice of physics that breaks the whole alum wing on a 2gnt is scientific method. no one has put these cars in a wind tunnel to measure downforce and what the effects of the alum wing would be. also these wings are very generic and "cookie cutter" in manufacturing. since they're one-size-fits-all you can't really count on it being appropriate for the 2gnt if it's appropriate for other cars as well. if that was the case then i guess all cylinder heads are interchangeable as well.

my opinion. i don't like the alum wing look at all. it's all a look though. it's not a matter of function or purpose. it's as fickle as paint color or wheel style. it's all in what the person likes. so put all the fucking wings you want on your car. you won't see that shit on mine.

aluminum wings on FWD cars are stupid and ricey. AWD and RWD it would be okay.. if you ran like 11s.. FWD 17 second cars do not need aluminum wings.. if so i'll consider your car on the same level as a civic.

I know im new here so i shouldnt really get into arguments (trying to build a GOOD rep, not a cocky n00b rep heh)

But everyone here talks like people buy wings for DAILY DRIVEN CARS for performance! Face it, none of the wings on any street-legal car is really going to do ANYTHING! ITs all about the looks in our world when it comes to a wing, plus i dont see ANY Car that runs 11's needing a wing that creates downforce, all out drag cars have a wing that goes straight off the back, but thats not for downforce, its to decrease drag, which downforce CREATES... Now when you get into the 6 seconds, then we'll talk.

Stupid topic, not like a AWD or RWD car thats on the road would benefit anymore than a FWD from a alluminum wing, if it looks good GO FOR IT!

I also wanted to add the fact that a wing (a FUNCTIONAL WING) helps the rear tires get traction in ANY car, if a AWD car is used in a high speed road corse scenario, it would use the extra downforce to take the turns faster, because that essentially adds weight to the tires, and gives them more grip... And to add to the alluminum wing, all of our wings are mounted to the trunk, if the wing created anything CLOSE to the downforce created to HOLD the car down more, then your trunk would certainly cave in, i mean if you were to sit on a cars trunk would it not dent? Maybe not with Eclipses because of the hatch, but the same idea stilla pplies...

Alright, let me be the first one to say that yes, i do own an aluminum wing, and yes its on the trunk of my car and im damn proud of it. I didnt buy it for downforce to help my car, but for looks. And ill be the 1st to admit it. Some people just like the looks of them and some dont. I like them for two reasons. I think their unique, and you dont hafta waste money painting them. Plain and simple. I dont think their ricey in the least, but i do agree with one of the above posts that they dont look too good on eclipses that arent lowered. Downforce? i think not. I noticed absolutely no difference on my 17 second fwd 420a and didnt expect too. Anyone that thinks a 5-10 pound piece of metal is guna make your car stick better obviously isnt thinking striaght. Everyone who owns a spoiler or is spoiler-less is taking offense only because they dont like wings, which is fine. But if people are admitting that they only own a wing for looks, no hard feelings. Go with what you think looks good. Thats what makes our cars unique in the first place. If everyone listened to everyone else we'd all be drivin cars that looked the same. In my opinion, giant wings are not worth it. Sorry I don't have any pictures to post of DSMs with aluminum wings, but I just don't like the way they look, and they are pointless. Even if you track the car (and I mean on a real track, with turns :P ) you don't need the extra downforce back there. Our FWD cars understeer anyways, you want the back end to be lighter and easier to break free or track behind the fronts a little better.
