I finally got my turn signals in the headlights cleared. I used klipzracer's method, cuttin off the back of the blinker area.

1: Remove the headlights (bumpers will need to be removed)
2: Look at the back of the headlight, there's an obvious seperate box just for the turn signal. Use a DREMEL or equivalent tool to cut out that box. There are 2 screws in back that you can't remove, so cut through the plastic until you hit them. Once you've cut all the way around, pull the back off, you will need to pull HARD to strip the plastic around the 2 screws, it's not too hard.
3: Once you've removed the box you will probably need to smash the orange reflector, I don't plan on ever reinstalling it so that was cool. After it's all off, screw the metal thing back in (only on the side with the closed hole).
4: Use a hot glue gun to close it back up, or you can do what klipz did and use a soldering iron. I put glue around the edges then thoroughly doused the outside of the box in hot glue so that there can't possibly be a leak anywhere.

It was totally worth it, once you cut the first box out you will know where to cut the second headlight one. Took me about 2 hours, from removing the bumper to cutting the lights to reinstalling the bumper. Keep in mind I've installed/removed my bumper several times, and I can remove it in about 5 mins flat :P

I wanna clear my turn signals this weekend. I know you just explained it, but can you go into a little more detail so I can print the directions out and know what I'm doin. Maybe pictures from someone? Please, thanks.

First off, I can't believe I found these pictures on the net, but anyway, here ya go:

1: Remove bumper, and headlights.
2: Use a Dremel or equivalent tool to cut out the box on the back of the headlight. If you look closely in the pic there's a slight change in height on the box, it's just beside my red line in the next set of pics, you're going to cut just above that line (closer to the plug not the lens).




In the 3rd pic, the blue dots represent the 2 screws to avoid cutting through (NOTE: you can cut through them but it just takes extra unecessary time), the light grey thing in the reflector, please note that one screw goes through an open end and the other goes through a closed end hole on the reflector. Once you've cut all the way around the box you will need to pull hard enough on the box to STRIP the plastic around the screws, once the screws are stripped the box will come right off. (NOTE: you will need to cut 2 lines in the black plastic along the length of the screws to push the screw out of it's housing, this will allow you to remove the screw and complete the next step) Next pull the refector out. Now just the orange thing is left inside the box, you can do what I did and cut an "X" in the middle of it and break it into little pieces and take all the pieces out.





4: With the orange thing out you can replace the reflector, if you cut along the red line you should be able to take one of the screws and screw it through the CLOSED end holes on the reflector, this will sit the reflector exactly where it's supposed to be.
5: Now place a heavy bead of hot glue along the cut edge on the HEADLIGHT, and put the back of the box back on the headlight. Then place a large amount of hot glue around the cut, I put glue all the way around and about a 1/4 in on each side of the cut.

So if the dotted line is the cut, and the dashed line is the edge of the glue, the glue spreads like so:

6: Done and done, put the light back on the car and replace the bumper. Hey if anyone lives in the Irvine (Orange County, SoCal) area we can hook up and I can help you out.

NOTE: The instructions aren't that great I know and I didn't cut EXACTLY along those red lines, so use a little common sense to guide you through. If you have a hot glue gun, any mistakes or large gaps in the plastic are EASILY filled with the hot glue.

i don't know about you guys, but cutting off the back just doesn't sound like a great idea to me...there is another method, the one i used, its much cleaner, and your headlights will NOT fog up if you do it right...
once you have the headlight removed from the car, use a hairdryer and or heat gun and heat up the plastic (where the clear cover and colored plastic meet, you can see the join because there are little clips along the outside, and you can see the glue. now start at one end of the light (i usually start on the opposite end of the turn signal) helps to have 2 people, one to heat and another to pry the peices apart. i used 1 small screwdriver and a larger one (flat head ofcource) now heat up the end then begin to push the screwdriver in between the 2 peices, then put the other one in and slowly pry both sides evenly, (so using the screwdriver on one side pry up and down while heating) then flip over and do the same on the other side...you will get to a point where you can put one hand on each side, then use you hand to pry it off, again slowly heating ( you will see the glue melt away...)
now with the 2 peices apart ,you can see the 2 screws that hold the orange peice in. remove and replace the screws.
this is a good time to paint the outside (non reflector) part of your headlight, if you so desire)
then with hosehold silicone glue, make a bead of silcone where the 2 peices go back together...and you are done. then go pimp your new clears...

A lot longer than 30 mins for both headlights, but a lot cleaner looking than my last resort.

Ya that heat gun method works really good. The hard part is getting it to fit back together perfectly tight *I just helped my friend with his JDM Type R headlights, and they were really hard to get back together tight). eclipse804@hotmail.com
