62735, Wiring Windshield Sprayer Lights Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Dec-01-03 01:42 AM
I have those lights that you put in place of your windshield sprayers, and I am curious on how to wire it. I was thinking of wiring it into my clear corner, but also activating it by a switch. I hope to add alot of lighting effects to my car like under glows, and lights under the dash and taking those license plate holder neons and mounting them under the seat so they glow in all directions. Is there anywhere that I could wire this all into (power source) I heard about using the cigerette lighter lead wire but I am unsure how to power from that.
Thanks In Advance

Excuse them...sum people can act childish about "rice" but what I did when I had mine was hook them up to my corner lens lights, so when I turned my parking lights or headlights on the windshield washer lights would come on too. The power wire is the green one with a white strip, then you can just connect the other black (ground) wire to a bolt on your car. Hope this helps

The cigarette lighter is a constant 12V when the car is on. You would need a switch if you ever wanted to turn the stuff off.

what i want is the squirters that are on the hood, to be on the wiper blades. that way it squirts on the windshield while the blade moves. that way, you get the whole travel of the wiper wet. makes sense IMO.

thats what I have since I have a hood with no squirters, just go to the junk yard and get the squrters of a GM wiper blade and they just clip on to your stock arms

I got some because I liked the chrome look against the expanded metal in my hood. But I wired mine to a switch and the light ring that goes around the lighter. That way they come on with the head and park lights, but I can turn them off if 5-0 rolles up. I ran the wires through the firewall where the rubber boot for the shift cables come through. Pry it back a little and tape the wires to a coat hanger and slide em thru. No big deal. Good luck.
Also don't pay too much attention to negative feed back from people, if you want to put something on your ride do it. Who gives a damn what other people think. Build your ride to suit you just like everyone else has, and have fun doin it.

looks like you should listen to that. First you are saying they are gay, but then you are agreeing on what flamineeclispe says to not worry about people hating on their stuff.
Why make a post that is just gonna say how stuff is rice and be useless information?
anyways, i hooked up my 8 inch neons inside my car by using the illumantion wire for teh ashtray in the center console. This way when the parking lights and headlights are on, my neons are on.

as far as I'm concerned...Anything to get the attention of EVERYONE else around you is Ghey....Flashing valve stem lights...Major F-ing GHEY......Like do you need a sign to say " hey, look at all my ingenuity.... ..it's inside those cool flashing lights" Like anything you can buy from Wal-Mart is ghey....Everyone grows outta rice eventually. If anyone ever see's anything on my car that they consider RICE, please be a gentleman and tell me to GET RID OF IT!!

It's kind of hard to see but it's actually Pearlescent. Also the reddish color is like the cayanne red pearlescent. Don't get too uptight about the purple. I can change it whenever I want.. HAHA

i used to have those lights...i thought they were awsome...this was a couple years ago when i had my 1g...now i look back and im like "wtf"...anyways, i had them hooked up to my side markers also, and had an on/off switch....well i got pulled over and had to fight the ticket, luckily i won....so then i switched them over to comming on when the door was open....this way they faded out after you shut the door...that was like 20% less ricey i thought.... other than the body kit, rice is all over....bring on the steak for me! doug

They are only illegal if they are red or blue. Those colors are only for emergency vehicles. If you have a yellow or green or purple set that do not flash then you are not in violation of any laws.

62946, RE: Wiring Windshield Sprayer Lights Posted by ZadensDSM, Dec-05-03 05:37 AM
i thought about getting a set to wire to my turn signals, so they only lit up (flashing with the blinkers) when you hit your turn signal
call it gay or wtf ever but i thought it was kinda unique, havent seen it around here but id also rather spend that money towards something better, like a turbo
:thumbsup

Honestly, you people take things out of hand. So this guy wants windshield washer lights.. OK I wouldn't put them on my eclipse. But if he wants to, then so be it. Instead of giving actual advice you people have to act so childish. Someone said how they do not like those lights because they bring attention to the car. Now, I can't read your mind, but I sure as shit hope you don't like wheels, body kits, tint, stickers, or whatever, because everything brings attention to a car.
To answer the question, I would wire them to maybe the cig lighter or accessory, and also run a switch. It is much better to be able to turn them off/on then keeping it on when your lights are on. The cig, or accessory power is nice too because if you leave the switch on, when you turn the car off, the lights will go off.. hope it helps :thumbsup

wiring them into the lights isnt that hard....i have my interior lights ran off of the little light that lights up the cigarette lighter...theres just two wires comming off of it, you can either splice it, or just cut it out all together.... doug

63348, RE: Wiring Windshield Sprayer Lights Posted by gadkins74, Dec-13-03 03:11 AM
actually Doug, I like your idea about wiring them to the door lights so that they fade when you close the door. Since I'm incredibly new to wiring and such, is there a way to wire them also through a switch so that you can select from always on, only on when door open, or always off?
Please bear in mind that I'm learning about all of this stuff and don't have much of an electrical background (proof: I have guage faces that have been sitting in my closet for months since I don't fully understand how to wire them).

well...a loud BOV will sure grab the attention of everyone around you, so will nice rims, a smooth body kit, an aftermarket exhaust, or club stickers on your window(s). Hell, smacking your car into a wall will get everyone to look, or rolling around in a Lamborghini, but i don't see much of that being called rice :shrug
Do what YOU want to YOUR own car IMO...he didn't ask whether the damn things were ghey, or rice, or otherwise. So STFU and not post on the topic if yer gonna be a dick. This paragraph doesn't go out to anyone in particular...more of a public service announcement.
:rolleyes
