Here is the painted headliner with the custom fiberglass center piece.

This key pad is like a security system. The engine will not start untill a 4 digit code is entered. I got this idea from the movie Transporter.

This is a custom second gauge cluster I made from fiberglass. On the left is A/F, center is a radar detector, and on the right is the battery level. All three turn on when the car is turned on and they have a light up from outside to center.

This is most of the interior sanded down to 600 grit and ready for paint. It took sooooo long to get these parts smooth but it was well worth it.

Here you can see the center piece where the keypad goes. I took out the ash tray and layed down fiberglass to cover the whole. Then I cut out a hole big enough for the keypad. You can also see the center console cover being modified to hold a 10 switch box.

This was one of the hardest fiberglass parts I wanted to make. I used speaker grill, fiberglass and bondo to make these mid range speaker enclosures.

It took me rougly 3 days to totally strip the interior. First time for me to tear up a car like this.

I put 2 layers of fiberglass matt on my headliner and constructed a center board for the center piece on the roof. Here it is bondoed and primed.
Let me know what you guys think and youre suggestions.

Truely, truely badass man. I usually hate yellow, but your use of it is pretty good. The work and design you've done is top notch. Can't wait to see the finished product. :thumbsup

Did you paint the engine bay yellow tooo???? cause that would look alittle weird having the whole car yellow and black and then your engine bay is green like the factory color

I really like the work you are putting into it. I've been doing some custom interior and body work stuff and I know how much time and effort goes into it, so much respect for doing it yourself.
Looks like I have some competition. Where are you located?

I am thinking about painting the engine bay. Only problem is I have no engine hoist and no experience to remove it. My original plan was to do all of the work myself. What I might try doing is removing a lot of parts and painting the engine bay in sections. Any better suggestions?
"optika" I live in Florida.
Thanks for all the positive comments. This is encouraging me to dump more money in it. I still have a lot of body work and I'm in the middle of building the sub enclosure for the trunk. By January the car should be done and I'll post finished pics.

You don't really have to remove the whole engine to paint the engine bay. Take off as much of it as you can and cover what is left and just paint it that way.
Do you do the paintwork yourself?

those light son your roof are phucking bright as hell looking. I don't like the yellow/black theme but it looks really good man. I think the APC seats throw it off though. With that much time invested in the interior I would have chosen nicer seats. But :thumbsup for you

DAYAMMM!!! You are a fiberglass god! :bowdown
While your tastes are different, you have awesome skills and it's showing. He he, you may be getting some PMs from me as I need a little fiberglass assistance.
Do those speakers hit your legs? I think your neons should be LEDS and you should get the kind that change colors. and if you could tatoo over those APC insignias on the seats, all the betta'.
How the hell did you do that extra part above the dash? that's damn cool

The lights are actually not that bright, my digi cam makes it look like a lighhouse but its not bad at all. I put 4 in there because with 2 it didn't really have a very good effect.

why did you mount those switches right there in the headliner? couldnt you have found a more stealth place for them?
|
62305, RE: New car pics, project half way complete (56K good luck) Posted by importxs, Nov-21-03 06:22 PM
wut model talon is yoru car? ESI, I want a turbo but I'm just gonna settle for a 75 wet shot.
Do those speakers hit your legs? Not at all, they fit perfectly and they don't affect leg room.
How the hell did you do that extra part above the dash? I took posterboard, cut it to the shape you see in the pic, taped off both ends while the posterboard was curved and layed down some fiberglass, then I cut out a plexiglass screen and put some tint film on it. Cut into the dash to make room for the radar detector and the two circuit boards. Than simply mold it into the dash and bondo it.
why did you mount those switches right there in the headliner? I didn't really want a stealthy location. I wanted a place to conveniently make it accesible.

wow, that's some major work and effort..mad props to you...it's looking good and can't wait to see the finished product...and not everyone will agree w/ your taste, but i think from just reading this thread you can see how much people's opinions and ideas differ.

Thanks for all the comments. I was also wondering about one thing. What would look better on a yellow car, gunmetal rims or silver rims? Give me youre opinions. Thanks.

62362, RE: New car pics, project half way complete (56K good luck) Posted by FunRS, Nov-23-03 09:00 AM
Where in FL are you? Are you any where near Jacksonville? On the rims I would go with some kind of polished rim or a gunmetal with a fat polished lip. Can't wait tell the car is finish. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate all the hard work you've put into your car...I give you a lot of respect for that. But I think all the yellow is too much, speakers too. Keep up the good work though:thumbsup

I like the switch loctaion...but I would have personally picked a nicer looking switch...my 2 cents.
And I say gunmetal rims:thumbsup
and I would still like to know where you got that keypad thing;-)

I'd have to say gunmetal wheels with a polished lip as well. I'd also have to say that is damn nice work. I don't care of the yellow black theme:shrug, but the quality is:thumbsup. Props to you and keep postin updates, I want to see the finished product.

62453, RE: New car pics, project half way complete (56K good luck) Posted by optikal, Nov-25-03 04:05 AM
Yeah all the work is really really nice.
I just don't care for the choice of colors and those cheap APC seats.

62456, RE: New car pics, project half way complete (56K good luck) Posted by steve0677, Nov-25-03 04:59 AM
i actually think the seats are pretty nice , were so used to seeing the apc window banner on crappy cars... now that is fugly.
