Can someone with paint knowledge also explain the whole paint process, prices, how many coats, perma plate and any other BS. Been dealing with all this performance stuff, have no idea how to make my car look better.

Thanks Talon, ya I been pretty busy with work...750 is what we charge to paint and install an entire kit. This is using factory PPG paint. Except for EXPENSIVE german paints, PPG is the best brand paint out there. Almost all car manufacturers, including mitsu, use PPG. If you look in magazine, most show cars also use PPG. Make sure they not only use PPG paint, but PPG clear coats etc. Basically we only have PPG, and German paints in our body shop. If you look at a stock BMW or Mercedes, you can see how nice their paint looks. That stuff costs more than double of American paints.

What I recommend is this: first install the kit, then drive around for a couple weeks, get used to going over bumps, driveways etc. Then you will notice if there are any fitment probs. Major probs that require cutting and fiberglass will cost extra. Then take if back to the shop, have them prep it (sanding it all down, using putty to fill in any slight spiderweb cracks, or any other imperfections - bondo and fiberglass for major problems). Then basically paint it. Let it dry at least overnight (one of our show cars had a show the next day, and the wind made the paint kinda swirl backwards on the whole front end of the car on the freeway). After it dries, do NOT let them wet sand and buff it the same day. Wait at least a week to let the paint soak in real good before going back for a wet sand and buff, which gets rid of the orange-peel and any other small drips. Make sure the price from the body shop includes the wet sand and buff.

I wanted a lot of clear coat on my paint, so they shot about 5 layers, I think typical is 3 or 4. It dripped on certain parts of the door, but once you wet sand and buff it, it goes away and comes out perfectly smooth. I think that is all I know about paint...if you have more questions, feel free to ask...

Sorry, we're in the Los Angeles area, and right now would need your car at least a week to do a full kit paint and install...
