6075, Tail light blacks Posted by jltucson, Jun-28-01 06:55 PM
Hi. I drive a Talon. yay.
Anyways I am using this black transparent spray paint for my tailights, the orange part. and leaving the red red. SO its black on top of red. Mine seems to look crappy. Anyways can anyone show me a pc of theirs for anyone who has done it so I can compare a little? Thanks.

To do mine, I used 2 cans of VHT nite-shades paint, because I went SO light on the coats. Seriously I probably put 15-20 coats on. I sprayed from probably a foot and a half away from the tails. If you just keep putting coats on you might be able to cover the parts that are too dark or whatever, just do everything really gradually, dont try to fix it with one coat. I guess you could also try to take what you have on there off and start over, but you could really get into a mess then. I would try to fix it first and use that as a last resort. Also if you think its beyond repair you could think about new tails and starting over.

Use paint thinner to remove all existing paint, then use windex and clean thoroughly. Then tape off everything except amber section of lights and apply around 10 - 20 thin coats -- spray from about 1 foot away. Don't overdo it, and take your time.

Mine looks like HELL. UUUUUUGHHh.
I did the blinker parts with the shade stuff and the talon strip with norma spray paint. ALL OF IT LOOKS DULL AND GROSS!! FADED ALMOST! UGGGGGHHHHHh.
Do you think spraying like polish stuff on it could make it look better? thanks.
