60423, How do I get my rear hatch panels rattle free??
Posted by FlyinEsi, Oct-16-03 06:59 AM
I took out my rear panels under the hatch to try to fix a leaking problem, but all I ended up doing was breakin a couple of the clips that hold the pieces in. Now when I drive down the road, or play my stereo up a little those pieces rattle like a motha. I tried putting some felt pads underneith them, but that didn't work at all. I was thinking about getting some clear silicone, but then will I be able to get back in there if I need to???

Any other suggestions?? How do I get these panels to stop rattling, without glueing them in, so I can get in there later if I need to???

Thanks guys

for as long as I've had my car it has rattled with the subwoofer.

I gave up trying to fix it.

one word...VELCRO! should hold the panel in there in place of the clipa and help stop the rattling.

turn the radio up really loud, ear plugs, or go deaf, probably the easiest ways to fix it.

I have the same problem, but i was thinking of taking off the metal clips altogether and squirt some silicon in where the clips inserts and put some err.. i think it's called "tuff stuff" into the hatch. Thinking this weekend i'll do it, what do you think? Well, I'll post up how it works by Monday.

Yeah dude, let me know how that turns out. I have some clear silicone I thought about shooting around the edges, but I don't want it to look all tacky or shitty.

So if you replace all the clips with velcro, it still will hold up all the panels without them falling down? If so, that would make it easier to take things apart and stop the stupid rattles!:)

the spray rubber doesnt work that well. there's 3 cans worth in my hatch. not including the top part of the hatch.

and i just wanna say that the velcro idea is pure genius.

I had the same problem, it's the metal clips that rattle. I just put some duck tape on the longer side of each hole (where tabs are inserted) and I've been rattle free ever since.

i took the plastic off my trunk and used pieces of tape with thick foam on one side of it (hardware store) on various spots on my last car. mine may not have rattled same spot as urs tho. i had no rattles what so ever tho and a pretty big system in it, just clean bass hitting. it did send a bolt thru my brake light tho, after that my brake light rattled somex(

so anyone know how to stop exterior rattling? My stock spoiler, bumper, light, everything else, rattles like a bitch. Anyone solve any of these rattles?

I would start by tightening all the screws that attach the exterior pieces, which I'm sure is easier said then done.
