59977, 95/96 Foglamp Install Q's Posted by docta doom, Oct-09-03 11:14 AM
I have the left and right 95/96 foglamps and I'm wondering if there are any extra parts necessary to install on a 95 RS other than the assembly that it comes with. I tried looking it up in CAPS(the program, not the online one) but my VIN doesn't have the fog lights and I can't find a way to go through different trim levels to see if there are any brackets.
On another side question, what would be required to make the weatherstripping around the windows and doors look new again? Mine are turning gray. I heard that the plastic vents up by the hood can be turned black again with a plastic polish from mother's or meguire's (not sure which), and with black tints, the gray weather stripping stands out.
Thanks :)

Yes, there's a metal bracket that bolts onto the car, and then you bolt the foglight assembly to it. You won't be able to install it correctly without those brackets.

are you sure your talking about the 95-96 ^^^^? i was under the impression that they bolt on where the blanks went if you didnt have them. there should just be the 2 bolts on each lamp towards the middle of the bumper. i never was aware of needing brackets...but i could be wrong. now 97-99 fogs, they definately need brackets.

Yep. Here's a pic of them I found on Conicelli Parts Center. It's labeled #2:

You may be able to find them at a local junkyard or in the sale/wanted section here. Or just purchase them brand new from Conicelli for $5.98 each. Here's the link:

actually... for the 95-96s... all the cars had the bracket... on the RSs, those plastic fillers for the foglights use the same brackets as the actual fogs.
if you search the archives.. i know there are several write ups on how to install the fogs.. in fact there is prob one on the main page too

As far as your question on the seals around the windows. You can buy them from the dealer for pretty cheap. I bought mine and they were $25/side for the upper ones and $45 for the lower ones. If you need help PM me and I can get some from my dealer. I know the parts guys and they usually give me a discount cause I order from them all the time.

hey 95greenhrcgs, those are great prices for the window trim- can you get the actual part numbers? And what's involved with removal and installation?

Thanks for all the replys. You guys have been extremely helpful, but I'm not gonna get around to buying all of the parts and door strips just yet because I may not be a 2GNT owner for very long.;( The insurance of the guy in the expedition that rear-ended me is declaring my car a total loss with a value of only $1798 (which is pure BS, thats like the value of the car as it sits right now, crashed) so it may be that I have to sue the company or the guy insured by that company or give up my car if they bump the car's value up to it's blue book (KBB says $3200). I don't really know whats gonna happen, or why this is happening over $1500 in repairs with an insurance company, but I'm trying to get it fixed ASAP because I do need a mode of transportation to get around, my parents and my girlfriend can't drive me around to work and school forever, so we'll see how that goes. It takes one asshole who isn't paying attention and a shitty insurance company to really fuck up your month or two and possibly three.
