;(
Wellp, yesterday my friend lost control of his WRX STi after taking a turn. I was in the passenger side, and we glanced off of a metal light pole into a tree passenger side first. Lucky to walk away from this one, but unfortunately the car is totalled :(

Here are some pics we just took this past saturday.

Pics we took today when we went to say goodbye to it:

OMG poor car. It shows the safety of wrx's though. You're lucky to walk away from that. Was your friend testing out the limits of the car?

Damn man. I really want ot call my buddy up there in Seattle and have him organize a posse to kick that do0ds ass. Maybe beat his parents for allowing a 16 yr old who was about to lose his license and insurance to get a car like that. Makes me sick.

He owes you BIG time.x(

That'll buff right out...

Shit, that's why they don't usually let me in the interior/exterior section, isn't it...

Seriously, though, glad to hear that you are alright.

Yeah that STi never had a chance :( Fast car + young'ns = accident waiting to happen imo. He wasn't intentionally trying to do anything, no. But he was on the gas.. maybe 4-5k RPM in 1st? I'm surprised that there was that much damage.. there's a pic of the interior somewhere where I was sitting and the right wheel got thrown into the wheel well and up in the passenger leg area because that area was all caved in. I'm real surprised that I was able to just climb out of the window heh.

A few things I've learned from this experience, though.. fast cars + young people do not mix. And SEATBELTS SAVE LIVES. If I didn't have my seatbelt on I probably would not be here today.

Thanks all for your comments

Damn, good to see people walk away from that. Not good to see a 16 y/o driving that machine. Way too young for a car like that. If they are not too immature to have something like that, then they are too young, and without enough driving experience. Crap, when I was 16, i had a 1981 Pontiac Grand Lemans! All I could afford for a HS kid and a part time job. opps..starting to go off track here, but hopefully this is a good lesson, eperience. If something can be learned from it, then that is great.

I like how on the passenger side the pillar bent outward instead of in. Looking at those tires, it doesn't surprise me he lost control. Im glad to hear your both ok, and keep that seatbelt on :thumbsup

Huh? Those STi tires are really good from what I've heard. They're really grippy and a lot better than wrx tires. There still appears to be plenty of tread left on his tires too. The problem with AWD is if you push it too hard, you start to oversteer, and then you need to power through the turn (accelerate more to bring it back). But past a certain limit, it's really hard to recover as the car is sliding already.

Hey I've been reading on the STi forums about a guy in Washington that wrecked his STi hitting a tree. Was that your friend? Were you guys coming out of a school parking lot?

Woah can you go into more detail on what happened? Did it feel like the car did something strange, or was it just driver error? A lot of people are talking about your friend being under 18 and wrecking an STi.

Just saw this on a wrx forum. So it this what happened?

syf0n: hey you go to Garfield Highschool, correct
Porn_dealer: correct
syf0n: some kid is getting reamed out right now on the internet. claims he wrecked his new Subaru STi the other day, at your highschool.
Porn_dealer: YES
syf0n: pulling out of your parking lot
Porn_dealer: HAHAHAAHAH
Porn_dealer: YES
Porn_dealer: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHHAAHAHA
syf0n: okay tell me about it
Porn_dealer: I WAS THERE
syf0n: AWESOME…what did he do?
Porn_dealer: hahahahaa what a tard
Porn_dealer: ok first off, he was on a suspended license, cuz he had wrecked his last car.
Porn_dealer: then his parents bought him a $35,000 STi, its probably the best car at our school
Porn_dealer: or was..the parking lot is on 23rd
syf0n: wait wait wait…you are sure your parents bought it for him?
Porn_dealer: that's what i heard
syf0n: okay
Porn_dealer: i dont know how else he got 35k. he's smart but..not that smart?
Porn_dealer: so anyways
syf0n: okay look
syf0n: in the national subaru wrx forums he claims he goes to three schools -- garfield and two community colleges and works two part time jobs and that's how he pays for it
Porn_dealer: we have a running start program where you can do community college and high school and earn college credits, and he does that
syf0n: he claims he paid for the car entirely on his own, and something about he used to have a VW Passat or something, he bought from his mom, then traded and used some other money for the sti
Porn_dealer: ....
Porn_dealer: i dont think that's the case
Porn_dealer: i can check with my friend in a second
Porn_dealer: anyways, let me get on my story :P
Porn_dealer: he pulls onto 23rd ave which is a busy arterial by trying to ****ing pull one of those 90 degree slides with the e-brake the thing accelerates mighty quick and he overshoots and tries to compensate by turning the wheel back and ends up smashing into a tree
syf0n: HAHAHA he claimed he was going 20 MPH and just "lost control"
Porn_dealer: dude hell no he's such a bad driver like he'll go out on I-5 at 152mph, and it's not that, its that he's just has no skills
Porn_dealer: which this clearly proves
syf0n: he claimed to be an "awesome driver" and that he was the fastest driver at your school
Porn_dealer: nope
Porn_dealer: general consensus around school is "hell no"
Porn_dealer: well yeah, he's the "fastest", meaning he'll go 150mph on the freeway
Porn_dealer: so he smashed his STi into a tree and blocked an entire lane and his axle was like falling off
Porn_dealer: they suspended his license until he's 18
syf0n: awesome! he said in the forum that he made a voluntary decision not to drive until he was 18
Porn_dealer: hahahahah
Porn_dealer: oh man
syf0n: get me his screen name plz plz plz

...

Porn_dealer: there were like 600 people
Porn_dealer: sitting aruond that guy's car
Porn_dealer: laughing
Porn_dealer: and at least 20 people had digicams
Porn_dealer: ill try to find pics
syf0n: that would be SOOOO awesome
Porn_dealer: the tree he hit
Porn_dealer: is charred
Porn_dealer: on the side he smashed

I don't know who "Porn_Dealer" is, but it can be inferred that he goes to my school. However, all that crap he just said is mostly BS. I doubt he knows my friend (the former STi owner) very well. Sounds like he was a random passer-by that now wants attention. I've heard like 30 different stories on the accident.. its funny cuz alot of times people don't know that I was actually in it so they tell me the story, saying that I got killed.. or I got set on fire.. or I had to be rescued by so and so.. or my friend broke his leg.. rumors imo. I was actually there. What happened was we were pulling out, completed a normal turn and we're going up the hill when the car veered toward the sidewalk. It was going straight for a second or two before it veered, so the turn may not be related. I don't know why it veered. I wasn't driving. Next thing I know, we're sitting there with airbags on and broken glass everywhere etc. I don't really want to start a flame war here, so believe what you want.
