58607, Is this a good deal?
Posted by pea_jay, Sep-30-03 07:01 PM
Ok my cousin is taking auto body in vocational school. He was talkin to me about it today and said they need a car blah blah blah. He said they would put on my body kit, shave the door handles, install the door poppers, fill the holes from my old wing and paint install new one, mold in air ducts if i want them, and paint the car red/silver pearl for $900 bucks. Downside is that i will be without the car for 1 1/2 months. Do you all think this is a good deal?

omfg if you dont do it you are a fool! lol you can buy a beater car to drive around in for a month and pay the 900 and still come out cheaper than if u paid to have all that done full price!

I just talked to him again, he just got home, and he said that they are going to mold the sides on, and that 900 is paying for the door poppers too. So i think imma do it. I found a 1g GST for 800 bucks, needs some interior work, so i think immma go that route lol

um, thats like an unreal deal. normally that cost alone would only put a wing on your car. -turbo wing anyway.

I guess why they are doing it so cheap is because they need a car, and i already have a body kit ordered, so it would be perfect. It's a high school class, so they are all beginners just learning. So im getting a killer deal so everyone says.

our local votec school does this alot. they do killer work too! its not like they are doing it for fun. they get graded on the work. our guys have to study or be enrolled in the course for alteast 9wks prior to garage/shop time. cool stuff. :thumbsup

yea these guys that are actually going to be doing the work are 2nd year students. My cousin is a first year and he mostly just learns and does some sanding or something lol. I wish i would have taken it when i was in high school.

Umm these are high school students learning on your car. I dunno, but personally I would never let them work on my car. It takes years of experience to paint properly (even "supposed" pros are sometimes pretty bad). Getting all the ripples etc out of the bondo also requires a lot of attention to detail. If they really work hard, maybe they will perfect the body work. But if they are like typical high school students, they probably won't be that picky and careful. I would never let them work on my car unless I was personally there all the time to watch exactly what they are doing. For example, if they just use bondo and no fiberglass to mold your sides, it will crack really easily. Just a warning.
