I have a few dull areas on my front, my pass skirt, and my rear...how can I make them shine like the rest of my car? thanks

I am SICK of taking my car back there, 4 times now ! I'm fucking pissed and those idiots dont know how to put a car back together right. I am NEVER going to recommend ANYONE go to those people. 9 months, and for what?


Is there something I can do to the car? Such as wetsand or use a buffer or what? It looks like there's paint there and clear, its just dull as hell, almost like its scuffed, and I remember seeing my wing like that a year ago, but the other shop had buffed it all shiny and stuff. This shop currently - they don't know what their doing. If it took them 3 weeks to do what I asked for this last (4th time), when they still didnt do anything but 2 things, off a list of 15 things....then I now need to take matters in my own hands.

Obviously, if you want something done right, you gotta hold someones' hand to do it, or just say fuck it and do it yourself.

need more clear coat imo. i woulld have them re coat it. of course if your a cheap impatient bastard you can go to pepboys and buy some clear coat in a can. but it wont layer right.

if it already looks scuffed, just buff it with a high speed buffer and some 3M Finesse-it finishing material (white stuff) and go over the car with some Meguiars Show Car Glaze (step 7)

Do not wax the car for a month or month and a half after it has been painted... wait for it to cure first... i still need to wait a week or so before i can wax mine

(the meguiars stuff is to get rid of buffer swirls, and makes car super shiny, like mine!)

Do NOT use a high speed buffer UNLESS you know what you are doing. They are no joke, and can be very dangerous in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to use the tool. You will end up with burned paint and buffer marks all over the place. Wax will not take any of that out. There are so many misconceptions of what wax is. It seals and protects, it won't remove blemishes unless it is a cleaer wax but even that will not give you the desired results. Also, the Meg's #7 show car glaze, that is a polish that is also added with fillers. You will need some time of polish that needs to put on by machine (buffer or DA polisher), such as Meg's #9 or Meg's Machine Glaze. It may appear to help take out buffer marks but it does not, it will cover them up for a short time. You may want to try a detail shop that also does reconditioning. They will polish the paint to make it shine like the rest of the car.

Do not wax the car for awhile, wait for the paint to cure. I remember you said your shop told you not to wax AT ALL. Well that is complete bullshit. It is safe to polish the paint all you want while it is curing though, no harm there. It won't seal the paint like some waxes will. You may even be able to use Meguiar's #9 by hand to bring it back but it is not likely.

Yup, sounds like you just need to wet sand and buff it. I would wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit, then have a professional buff it out. Don't do it yourself. The body shop should fix it though if they care about their rep. I remember you saying that the shop was highly recommended, so they should live up to their rep. Have them fix it because if they mess it up (burn the paint because there was not enough clear to begin with), then they have to fix that.

If its dull then try and wetsand it with like a 2000 grit like mentioned above. I will also second whosomone else said as far as using a high speed buffer. It took me about a month at work befoe I was confident enough to use one on customer cars after I had been practicing EVERY day on junkyard hoods and such.

i said high speed because well... i didn't use one, my neighbor did, he had practice on thousands of cars that were not his...

sorry, use the low speed, it will just take longer

and yes Meguiars step 7 doesn't last long, it lasts untill you wash the car, then you gotta polish it again...
