Let me know what you think of this. I did it all in about 6 hours using a dremel tool and some old computer power cables. Direct to the battery with a switch and LEDs mounted.
 and the backseat

I'm still looking to mount the inverter itself under the dash somewhere, and the LEDs and switch are fed to the console with CAT-5 cable so I can just un-clip everything and take it to a new car or on a boat or something if I want to :thumbsup

looks pretty good to me. what are you using it for? seems like someting you go through all that trouble should be used on a daily basis, or at least pretty often. just wondering what you were plugging in.

I run a production company here in VA and I shoot A LOT of stuff from my car, so I have cameras and audio mixers and sometimes computers and monitors in here. I obviously can't run all of that stuff at once, but I also can't run all of that stuff with separate batteries, so this is real nice.
Check out our early stuff, like the NOPI videos we did. http://productions.orangestickman.com/videos.html

*vaporizer*
LOL Gotta love turbo8u...
BE carful with this, I did this to my old F-150 truck I had a total of 4 of these outlets mounted in the walls so I could run work lights and a laptop I had mounted to the ceiling :P but It drew too much juice from the truck and my alternator went up in flames almost taknig the rest with it. Just a word of caution.... But yeah looks great If I wern't afraid of fire in my baby I'd do it too.

BTW do you have a voltmeter installed in your car? I would grab one as a saftey feature more than anything. They are cheap and easy to hook up.

bah...as long as its fused properly and you have used the proper size cable you are fine. a voltmeter is a good idea to make sure you arent going to kill the battery and not be able to start the car.
one suggestion: you really should paint those housings black...it would blend in a lot better. :thumbsup

actually I think I like the housings white because the trim inside my car is white and I'm painting more white too. I had some black ones, but it was almost a different shade, and it sort of contrasted.
and I do have a voltmeter in there, and everything is properly shielded and grounds are solid, I've been using it in my 96 RS for a couple years, but I decided to actually make it look custom in my 99
