Was driving around to do some errands today, reached for the handle to get in, and the damn thing snapped!! It looks like just a plastic piece broke, so do you think I can fix it with some super strong plastic glue, or is this a job I have to take to satan??

Please help if you have any advice, or if you know how much satan is going to charge for this?? TIA

EDIT: WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS IT IS TO GET IN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, OPEN THE DOOR, WALK AROUND THE CAR AGAIN, AND FINALLY GET IN!!! F**K!

Sucks, huh!? I had mine replaced about 2 years ago by Satan. If I remember, they charged me about $250 which included the handle, paint, and labor to remove/install. Sorry to hear about that...the little things we take for granted....:-(

damn POS plastic door handles x(

i've been going for a few months without a driver's side door handle, i better replace it before the passenger side one brakes. i'd have to start crawling in my car through the hatch :+

once you do it once..it's easy as shit. i had to disassemble mine cause i left my flashlight in there (dont ask)..took me like 10 min to disassemble it all.

Welcome to the club. If you have an RS it's not as big a deal as GS because you don't have to get the handle painted. It still sucks. Mine broke around 40k miles.

we just replaced my coworkers last friday. that is a sonofabitch to get the bar connected back to the new handle, and have it push down far enough to unlatch the car. I think we bent the rod when taking the old handle off, that's why it was such a problem.

Do you guys think I could fix it myself with some super glue???

mine broke not to long ago. i fixed it by super gluing it more than once. but the down side is, it won hold tooo long. bout two or three days after fixing it broke again. my next idea is to take some wire of some sort and somehow attach it to the inside piece then to the back of the handle where broke at. im just about done, so ill let u know how it went. lol:+

hey man, next time yoou nhave to do that take the screws out of the actual laching mechanism and pull the rods up andout of the door through the handle hole. I've hade to do mine 3 times now so I've stock piled handles from the local junk yard($3.50). It's the only way to go.

Because if he's like any of us, he wants to run at the track, and if you shaved your handles, they won't let you run. Check the rulebook. It sucks, I know, but it's your safety they're concerned with. If you crash or catch on fire and they need to get you out...they can't be playing with your remote to open the doors.

By the way, if I find out a single one of you goes to the DEALER for something as common as a door handle, I will come to your home and bitchslap you myself. I'm willing to bet those of you who had satan replace your door handle have done harder things before...like shave, or button your shirt. As a DSM owner, you have to be ready and willing to fix stuff yourself...otherwise, just go get a BMW or Ferrari, you're gonna spend just as much having Satan fix your DSM as you will having a Ferrari worked on.

A door handle is at most $30 from a junkyard. Most of you have the pleasure and luck of probably finding one in the right color, meaning it's just a few bolts and you're done. For those of you who can't find a door handle in your color, or have a rare color Eclipse (check my screen name), even buying a black one for 30 and getting it painted is well under 100. I got mine done for 50 bucks, and you can't tell it was replaced. That was WITHOUT matching the color to my car, just painting it according to the paint code, and it's a 95, so that's pretty impressive.

Next person that wants to spend 250 for a door handle, let me know, and I will do it for half that and still make a profit. :)

i'll sell you my glued old black RS handle for cheap, or my new one that I bought in January of this year. I have both my old "new" black RS door handles....email me if u are interested.

getting that plastic clip around the rod is a pain in the ass..bt what i did was i used zip ties and just zip tied it to each other..same principle..diff way of holding it togheter..made it much easier and i can take out and re-assemble a door handle in no time.

Copr - most of us have jobs and a life. Some people take their car to satan because they may not have another choice at the time. I own my own business and am way too busy to take care of something as petty as a door handle. I can afford to pay satan to take care of emergencies like this. I work on my car every chance I get - would I have liked to get a handle from a junk yard and install it myself?? Of course I would!! But at the time, I was not able to do this because of my business. Maybe next time you should think twice before judging others on this board. I just feel that you were a little out of place with your comment. As far as the 'bitch slap', come on down. Hell, I'll even cover your travel expenses.

Dude, you're preachin' to the choir. I work anywhere between 45 and 80 hours a week, and I make more than enough money to take it to Satan. I also have a busy life, friends, and hobbies. But I'm also an enthusiast, and an enthusiast enjoys working on his car himself, takes pride in doing the repairs and upgrades with his own hands, not dropping it off somewhere and letting some mechanic do the work for him. You appreciate your car 100's of times more when you're the one turning the wrenches. I'm sure Bill (the1Bill) could easily have dropped his car off at a shop and it would have been done now. But when he finishes it, he'll have the pleasure and reward and bragging rights to say that he did it all himself.

Sure you can afford to pay satan for it. But wouldn't it have been nicer to spend the money on something else? And you consider a broken handle an EMERGENCY? Try losing your alternator belt 2 hours from home at 1 AM. THAT's an emergency.

Come on man, I get up at 10 am, work 3 pm-12, drive 2 hours south to Bill's garage, and work from 2 am until 4 pm on my car when stuff needs to get done. Am I tired? Sure, of course. But at the end of that day, I have $250 in my pocket, and satan is $250 poorer because I made time in my busy schedule to work on my car.

I'm not judging anyone on the board, all I'm saying is, we have cars that break a lot. If you aren't even willing to take 2 hours to put a door handle on, when others are rebuilding their motors in their free time, maybe this isn't a car you should be driving. And my offer still stands, if any of you break a door handle and want a new one, painted in your color, send me half of what the dealer is charging, and you'll have one in the mail and I'll still make 50-75 off of it.

When's good for you man? I'll be rebuilding a built engine, putting on a turbo kit, and redoing most of my interior (myself, not some shop) but I'll still find time to come down there and bitch slap you if you think 250 is worth your "busy time."

Whoever said it first is right, people are gettin WAY too sensitive on this board. The point of my post was humor, and also to point out it's not as hard, time consuming, or expensive as people think. But, as with a lot of people on this board, my humor was misinterpreted as an attack. Relax, grow up, roll with the punches. I'd fly anywhere in the country and spend unlimited hours helping any one of you on the board fix anything on your car. I wouldn't ask for a dime in return either. I love these cars and would help anyone that owns one.
