56929, Gap between hood and front bumper... Posted by sonikbewm, Sep-11-03 06:43 PM
Ever since I had my VIS CF hood installed, there has been a slight gap between the hood and the front bumper inbetween the headlights. It latches and everything but is there anyway that I can make it so there isn't a gap?

not sure if it will work, but try screwing down the bumber stops more. Mine was too low on one side and I did that (raised it up) and it looked way better. Ask for another opinion though....i wouldn't want to give advice that would fuck up your hood.

The sides are fine, it's just the middle part. When I got it back I took the stops completely out to try to fix it, and it didn't make any difference. Thanks for the reply though.

hmm...Dunno what it could be then...is there something ....up too high in you bay? like an intake or something that could be rubbing it? I'm gonna be getting my new hood here shortly (i hope) so i hope you figure it out.

Nope, nothing is hitting it. I can't figure out what the deal is.

Since you are running the stock uerethane front bumper it has some "wiggle" room. What you can do is buy some washers and remove the bolts that hold the bumper to the car between the lights. insert some of the washers in between the bumper and the frame. then screw it back down. This will raise the middle part of the front bumper up to meet the hood. Dont go crazy or you might get a little gap around the headlights, but 1 or 2 washers should be fine no problems. Its kinda hard to get the washers under the bumper, but if you use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the bumper and then kinda just slide the washers in there doing one bolt at a time.

Alright, cool. I'll have to give that a try.

Alright, I have 2 washers for every bolt. It closed the gap quite a bit but there is still some. I might have to go get 5 more washers so each bolt has 3 and that might just do the trick. Thanks for your help.
