Hey everyone!!!

I just have a quick question about the process of painting ones interior. I am going to you the Krylon Fusion paint and i was wonder if i need a primer, Krylon, Clearcoat combination. Or does it work well with just the Krylon???
Any help would be appreciated!!!!

alright, you can only use the krylon fusion on the plastic parts of the interior. The parts that are vinyl, you must use a vinyl paint. The krylon fusion will not "dry" on the material. It will stay sticky. Now with the plastic parts that you can use the fusion on, i didn't use any primer and it has held up perfectly so far. I did, however, add 4 coats of a clear coat afterwards. I used a triple thick clear coat and it seems to work really well when i tested it. looks like glass imo. have yet to apply it to a finished peice but i can let you know how it came out when i do.

So then when i pick the Krylon up i should also pick up a thing of clear coat??? What kind?? And lastly, what parts in the interior will the paint dry on??

the fusion will dry fine of plastics, just not vinyl. I would pick up one or two diff kinds of clear coat personally. Then you can check (on something no timportal...cardboard etc) how well its going to work. From what I've found, all clear coats ARE not created equal. I used the fusion paint on my interior. I didn't even clear it, I just put about 4 good coats on it, and it has held up great. I would tell everyone to buy fusion to paint with. It also flows really smooth out of the can.

Would the 3'' bolt right up to the stock cat??

I used fusion to do my interior...the doors are holding up well but the rest of the car is scratching and flaking badly. I'm stripping my interior and having it done in black gelcoat

My interior has been in for about a month and so far its holding up well.

I used duplicolor primer and red and clear enamel paint on the plastic pieces after I sanded them smooth:

clearcoat over vinyl gets sticky when it gets hot.....

im gonna have to take ALL of my pieces out...sand and REPAINT them ALL....

dupilcolor is garbage... dont use krylon over vinyl

buy SEM....no clearcoat...

Did you sand the texture off of those peices? That looks damn good!
What grit sandpaper would be best for that?

^^wondering the same thing. When i tried to sand mine it seemed to do more of meltingit or so...hard to explain really...right now i am experimenting in filler primer

I sanded off the texture with 40 grit sandpaper and then went over it with 100, 220, and 320 grit sandpaper before I started with the primer.

It took me way to long to do that. But it looks smooth as glass now.

I only did that to the plastic pieces. It won't work on the soft vinyl.

Squid, how did you get the piece in the pic on the right side of the glove box off? I have been wanting to do mine b/c my door panels and everything else is done, but I don't know how to get that piece, and the piece under the steering column off.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The small piece on the passenger side has 2 bolts on the bottom and there is a clip on the top so just pop it off.

The driver's side has 4 bolts, 2 are under screw covers. There's also a clip on the top that pops off.
