5646, Need side pic of WW 3 piece spoiler
Posted by alexries, Jun-18-01 05:24 PM
Hey, does anyone have a pic of the 3 piece Wings West spoiler? Does the TOP of it stick back past the edge of the hatch or does it stop before the edge like the stock high spoiler?

It stops before the edge. It's pretty much even with it.

I was thinking about this wing too. One question. What does this do to the antenna? I saw one of these on an integra and it had a hole for the antenna to come through. I didn't care too much for that. Is yours like that??? Where did u get it and how much?

Alex-yes that is the 3-piece wing on my car.

9D9-The wing doesn't have a hole for the antenna. The wing sits right beside the antenna and there is a little notch on the side of the wing for it. It's hard to explain but it looks real good. Most people think the wing is factory it looks that clean. I paid $300 for mine direct from WW, but I bought it about 3 yrs ago when it first came out.

A little notch? You mean it barely brushes by? Orthe noch is just at the bottom? I am thinking about what kind of wing would match with my car. Check it out. Let me know which wing u guys think? http://www.geocities.com/nined9mitsurs/My_eclipse.html

No it doesn't just clear it, it has plenty of room. It's hard to explain but trust me it looks good. The fit & quality are both excellent. Are for saying which wing would look best, well that's kind of your choice and no one can help you out. I personally don't like the looks of most of the wings on the market for our cars, they are just too obnoxious & ricey for me. The only wing that I really liked was the WW 3-piece and I bought it. You have to decide what kind of look you like and go for that.

BLKOUT- Does the WW 3 piece cover ALL the holes of the factory 3 piece? There's the center pillar thing on the factory wing (right in the middle) is there a hole under there? I don't want to have to weld ANY holes, LMK if you had to, thanks man.

Well, I wasn't saying u guys decide for me. I would just like to see pics and get suggestions on wich wings look good on our cars.

No the 3-piece doesn't cover the holes in the center. When you remove the factory wing there will be two holes in the hatch lid. The one isn't too big but the other is pretty good sized.

So everyone (except the lucky SOB's who didn't have a spoiler) who are getting aftermarket spoilers for their 'clipse, are dropping MAD cash (I've heard $600-$800) to have the holes filled? SHIT dude I guess I'll just have to stick with the stock 3 piece, unless someone else knows of a better/cheaper way to have the holes filled.

hey instead of welding the holes couldn't a body shop like spread bondo or something or fibreglass over top and paint it over to match? if so that's be like a third of the price

Sure they could but everytime you close the hatch, or especially if you have bass in the trunk, the hatch flexes. After a bit of flexing that junk is going to start to crack and then it going to look like s**t. IMO if your willing to go through all the trouble of putting on a new wing, getting it painted, and getting the hatch re-painted then why not do it right the first time.

There is a body shop here that I go to. I heard they are great with spoilers, so if they are, I know there is better. I live in a small town full of hicks. Anyways. I hear they can weld they holes, sad a spot, and paint it to match without painting the whole rear end of a car. Would it hurt to just leave the holes on the sides un welded? I was going to just weld all visible holes.

Yeah it will be fine to leave the holes on the sides un-welded, the wing will cover those anyway. Also thats correct that they can fix the holes and not paint the whole rear-end. They should be able to blend the hatch and then just re-clear the whole thing.

I don't know if I will go to that shop again though. They are supposed to be the best. My front is chiping and the paint is cracking badly in 3 spots. I am taking it back and seeing what they say. If they don't fix it, I am getting my $$$ back and going somewhere else. North Carolina sucks for hooking up a car.

At Maaco, it is only $15 per hole. I am am getting 11 holes shaved (4 from gtr wing, 5 from touring wing, and 2 on hood from windshield squiters) It is only going to be $165 for all the body work. I woulm't know how much the paint is, but just go buy a pint from your local body shop and spary it your self. The pint is only like $35.
