My car is getting ready to go into the body shop in about 2 weeks for a new paint job. I'm curious how the side moldings come off. Are they just taped on, or bolted on? Any tips at taking them off, or pics would be appreciated.

No offense or anything dude, but you need to get rid of your door moldings, and get rid of the wang and you'll have a hot fuckin' car!!!

His exact question is why mine are still on. I don't got the money to pay to fill the 3 nickel sized holes in my door then get both doors repainted. Next year I'll get it done and the car should look pretty sweet then.

Best way to do it is work at one end and slowly pull the moulding off the door....there are 3 plugs but if you pull hard enough they pop off (don't pull to hard)...and just slowly use something sharp to cut the glue/silicone holding them on. (flathead screwdriver and exacto knife worked for me)

anyone know if the moldings on a 95 talon are bolted on too??? Mine are coming off on my doors close to the handle. I was planning on pullin em off, but if there are bolts then fuck that!

the 95's aren't bolted on. i used a lot of fishing line goo gone and a hair dryer. poured in goo gone, heated it up and sawed it off with the fishing line. took a while and your left with nasty glue. the glue can be heated up in 1 foot sections with the hair dryer and rubbed off (blisters!) thats how i did it anyway. you don't want to pull as the adhesive can hold on to the paint and pull off all the paint in spots to the metal..... (also from experience, but i was repainting so i didn't care)

moldings are the shit sir, keep them. they scream talon

bah.....the moldings kinda break up the smoothness of the car IMO. I am going for a clean, aftermarket look. Shaved handles and door trim nwn are in my future.

I just took mine off on my 95 Talon with a razor blade and sanded off the glue with some 80 grit on an orbital. Im doing the same thing BuckNutty, shaving doors, rear windshield wiper and antenna, and anything else I can shave off to give it a clean look.

Mine are off. After the paint job the bodyshop told me to come by to get the moldings on and i said to forget because i like how it looks. the car looks cleaner and smoother. '95s arent bolted on.:thumbsup
