HI.

I was wondering has anyone painted the inside of the headlight, the silver part that goes around the light's silber reflective stuff. You get what Im saying? Not the lense, and not the reflective chrome thing that circles each bulb. But rather the silver thing around that. Now you must know. Anyone ever painted this? I want to but have no idea what it would turn out like.. I want it black since itd match my car. Anyone got pics? I know some guy named FUrious may have done it, I emailed him. Waiting for him to get back. Anyone else?

are you talking about the silver housing?? that reflects the light???

Im not sure what you mean. Picture this. You got 2 bulbs. A bright bulb and a driving bulb. Both of them are surrounded by circle things that are pretty much chrome they are so reflective. But then around the chrome reflecters you 1 piece of silver that surrounds all of that and also covers the bottom of the headlight pointing up. Get what I mean?

The problem is that you must have a 95-96 car, and junoon has a 97+. that area of the headlight on 97+ eclipses is black plastic, and it is reflective on 95-96. (and 97-98 talons).

I think I remember seeing some people with that part painted...look around at sigs I guess....it looked pretty good from what I remember, but it looks to be a pain in the ass to get the headlights apart.

Ok thanks. I actually just did it a second ago :) I saw it on Furious's sig, he had a '99 Eclipse, but it was the same headlight just black inside... So whether or not he did it, it looks good so I did it. Okwell thanks!

yeah i painted mine blue when i swapped to 99 lights. you can paint the 95s too but it would be a waste cause the lenses are faulty. all 97-99 eclipses had black housings from the factory.

youre kidding me right? dont tell me you have never noticed the headlights on 95-96 cars? only about 5% end up with 2 clear lenses, id venture to say 80% get at least one hazed light and the other 15% get both lights fogged. go look at a dealership service dept. at all the 95-96 and count the clear lenses and the yellow lenses, it was a cosmetic problem that was never recalled, but it was fixed, the 97-up lights dont get discolored like the pre-97s look on my site, there is one pic at the bottom of the "my eclipse" page, under the old pics area of the front of my car with my old bumper, and you will clearly see the hazy light compared to the clear one (my drivers light is the hazed one in the pic)

Actually, an owner of a '95, I can tell you the lenses ARE faulty. And when I bought mine, one was barely see thru. Its crappy plastic and it deteriortates. But, as with all things, it can be fixed. And with a few choice polishes like Blue Magic, 3m and 20/20, its back to being crystal clear. Literally. The other is still perfectly clear...... So i case someone has a cloudy gross, lenses, polish it. For hours. And hours. Its painful and terrble, but when you clean it all up and wipe it off, you wont believe your eyes...

if you see your lights start to haze, just test for leaks. and yes, you can take them apart and paint them, its alittle harder on the 95 lights cause some of the paintable part is not in a seperate housing, depends how much you wanna do.
