All I can say is damn. That looks sooo damn nice bro. What color are you going to end up painting it? And are you going to paint the roll cage the same color as the car or a dif color? Anyway it looks good and you have out done yourself. I give it 5 ***** stars. It only took my poor 56k modem and dialup connection about...id say 18 to 25 mins to dl all the pics. HEHE... I can't wait to see the finished product. When is the expected date of completion?

um motor will be here mid next week, and if u keep up, im not on air anymore, im on ground control. this is my project so i know what 70% complete is.... dumass.

agression, the entire car will be marblized, snake skin patterns here and there, black silver marble, purple liliac, its gonna look like someone ripped the paint off type thing to show the other color marble, silver shadowing and the cage will be done in silver, to complement the tenzo r black and silver seats. and other accents. from the front seats up its gonna be full interior, and panels, we havent started fitting the panels back in so we dont know what kinda setup were gonna do with tha ass in. i got 2 nx bottles to mount somewere though :P

beleive me I am NOT hating on ur ride when I ask u the following questions.... I love that car and it looks amazing, very very nice and alot of hard work...i cannot wait to see when its done.

BUT, whats the point of going targa when u still got those 2 annoying cross beams going across ur roof? thats the only big question i have. You're kinda cancelling yourself out from having a true targa. I could see across the sides, back down below and wide-across...but over the roof where ur original roof points where anyways? Please explain further...I'm kinda interested myself. ;-)

Good work man, but I agree with the Kaptain on this one. Also, how do you plan on getting in? It looks as if there is no removable bar for entry / exit, and why is there no cross bar on the passenger side? It looks goog though man, keep it up!

my logical guess is the bar is for bracing purposes...

every targa ive ehard of custom tried to twist the car so much without extensive bracing ...

on the driverside, those bars are tact brace bars, not permanent, i have a 3 gauge pod thas getting molded into the cage.

as for the bars shoootin threw the roof, the reason behind it is because of reinforcement, safety and of course show( when its done). the main reason is

this car was never meant to have its roof missing, the pillars in the windshield arent the sturdiest, what would happen if i roll this motherfucker. i would be crushed alive. i dont wanna risk, hitting a big bump or rear ending some one, and the dash collapses and smashes my knees. mostly everyone ive talked that has done the top, the car had flexed and settled by more than 1/4 of a inch. which is alot. we lasered mine after the top was cut. it didnt flex. we got 2 200 lb dudes to jump in the car and bounce it, it didnt flex. so obviously, its there for a purpose.

the supra guys run 10 point cages all the time. takes a lil away from the targa look, but i think it adds a subtle race look. i like it.

maybe if i didnt plan on make 110-115mph quarter mile passes, and i didnt have plans of driving it all the time. maybe i would have went with a 6 point cage and let door ajar light come on every time i hit a bump in the road.( inside joke ) ;)

targa eclipse, i got some quesitons about ur mods, are u a gst or a 420a with turbo kit.

-HRC FMIC, N1 Exhaust system, test pipe, Turbo kit, Howell Cams, Aem Cam gears, valve springs, JE Pistons, Crower Rods, lashers lifters, msd coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires from msd, head Port N polished, Missing Link, E-manage, 720cc injectors, Profec B Boost controller, EGT, A/F Gauge, NX N tercooler SPray kit, Nitrous Express kit stage 1, Phantom Grip LSD, AF/X pulley kit, MSD, Bored out TB, 1G Intake Manifold, EMS,-

1st, i didnt think howell made there own cams, u have any maps on that e-manage, and i didnt think that it could control injectors that big on a 2gnt. and the 1g intake manny???? correct me if im wrong, im still trying to figure out if your a 4g or 420a. but, u gotta be a 420, cuz u have a missing link, but, theres no such thing as a "1g intake manny" cuz the 420a wasnt in 1gs. and the exhaust doesnt look like a n-1, and the ems, thas a 4g thing.im confused, please clarify

okay let me get this straight i'm not advertising my car been done w/ my car i got a new project my celica gt-s, and by the way my car is a 420A and the injectors i got 500cc the mods on my list are from way back and never did change'em like i said i am done w/ my car got a new project to work w/ and i dont have the e-manage i got the ems ...etc....got howell cams # 12 i think and my car is not the 4G eclipse unless its the new breed :D 1G manifold...i dunno how that ended up there mine is just PnP, and those pic they dont show my N1 exhaust system cuz those pic are old, i just thought i show ya all a finished porject while we wait on the 10pt targa eclipse.....PEACE

First of all...widebody your car looks great I'm looking forward to seeing it completed. I think targa top are the bomb. But there's one thing I don't understand about this whole strength issue. I realize that unibodies depend greatly on the top for structural support and if you take that out you basically have a rolling piece of shit (if you’re lucky) if you don't compensate for it. But my confusion comes in with I see a Spider tooling down the road. How did mitsu pull it off? They don't have a roof...or a ten point roll cage. Why can't we learn from just looking at the chaise of a Spider. It kind of blows my mind why this is so difficult. Makes me want to go out and buy a spider and weld the top and hatch off a coupe and bam...there you go...instant targa top! Could someone shed some light on this theory of the invisible roll cage on the Spider?

few things.....maybe im the only one....but supra tail lights in an eclipse doesnt looks good whatsoever...thats just me.... but i do like both of your targas....im sure that is a whole ass load of work to pull off and you cant hate on a project requiring that much work. Especially when most peoples cars are just boltons and minor body work and engine work...
regarding the spyder, first they flex like hell anyway... they rattle and flex when u hit a bump all the time. And mitsubishi added over one hundred pounds worth of metal bracing to the chassis. Behind the back seat, under the car and especially in the front windshield area. To pass rollover standards, the windshield must be able to support the weight of the car, spyders have a much stronger windshield frame than the hardtop cars do.

EXACTLY. That why spiders are so damn heavy.

IC...thanx for clearing that up for me:thumbsup....I didn't relize that they aren't a very solid car (I've never riden in one) And I always kind of wondered why converts always weighed more...I was like "the convert top framework can't be that heavy"...LOL

yes, spyders flex like mad, they do have extra reinforcments in the pillar and rockers and what not. its heavy as shit, im not sure on the weight, but ive seen them pull of high 15s and low 16s bone stock in quarter.

hey Dwayne..my friend talked to you while he was getting his body fixed.. his said your car actually looks really good and it's gonna be really nice. He was telling me how no one down there is smart about DSMs except you. most of the other DSms have like hubcap rims and altezzas and rice stuff. and about Dwayne's feedback.. i personally haven't seen his car..and if you people think those pics are fake.. my friend will vouch for him cause he saw it while they were cutting out the targa top and stuff. I didn't really believe you but once i talked to my friend and saw the pics your car looks good. I'd like to see it when it's done. fast and pretty. you should definately show it at shows.
