53969, Stupid Headlight is dirty and cant clean it!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by EclipseRacer95, Jul-28-03 01:19 PM
I have taken the Head light out opened it up and scrubbed it inside and out with Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. But it looks the same. I am sick of this headlight not matching the other one and was wondering if anyone has any other ideas on how to clean this stupid headlight. It seems that it is just dirty on the outside (almost kinda cloudy) but i scrub and scrub and it always comes out looking the same... Dirty! Someone please helpx(

I think its generally the drivers light that starts to turn yellow on the '95 cars. Its like the environment degrades the plastic over time. You can polish it with metal polish (on the outside). That will remove the yellow haze, but it will reform after a few weeks. I don't know of a permanent solution.

no its a bad factory seal in the inner corner on almost every 95 both pass and drivers side, and 96's are mostly drivers side

I used some turtle wax scratch removing wax. cleared them right up

Chyslerkid...please explain how a bad seal in the corner causes the outer surface of the headlight to turn yellow. Perhaps we are talking about two different things. The outer surface of my headlight is actually degraded (surface looks eaten away). After polishing, it is noticeably smoother and clear. Then the dull, yellow appearance returns a few weeks later. To me, that sounds like degradation due to the environment (UV rays, acidic rain, etc).

Didnt read replies...

But on my '95 the driver's was BAD. I scrubbed using several polishes for hours (and I mean HARD scurbbing) and it cleared up like new. I did it on the outside. Maybe you need to try harder?

I have two crystal clear headlights from my 95 just sitting around if you dont wanna spend the time repolishing every couple of weeks. If you want pics e-mail me at dehartj@wans.net. We can talk about the details there. Otherwise good luck!
