I put this on about a month ago but I though I'd just post it anyway. I painted it red with 500 deg paint and polished the letters and then cleared the shit out of it. It took me longer to paint it than it did to take it off and put it on. I had to replace the gaskets anyway. And I know My digi cam sucks

damn, looks pretty good! i've been wanting to do that, what did you use on the letters? a dremel or something?

Thanks, Actually I just used a sanding block with 220, then 400 then like 600 i think and it was good enough then so I cleared it. It looks alot better in person

When I painted mine I used a crayon to mask off the letters so the paint would come off easier. Then you can just take your Dremel to it with some SimiChrome polish and shine 'er up.

Unfortunately, I painted mine the one day it rained here last summer and had to put so many coats on it that it has a wrinkled texture to it now. :(

Them I tried to do another one and ran out of paint and something fell on it while it was drying. x( Dammit.

Just a little tip for others... When I painted my cover, I put a little bit of vasoline with a paint brush on the letters and then spray painted. The dried paint chipped right off.

yea one more tip i'll throw in there make sure you cover it while it dries otherwise bugs get it in trust e on this i painted mine with like 7 layers of blue ad 5 layers of gloss but boy does it shine :thumbsup

yep. it'll be easier to take it off.:thumbsup

Hose came from summit racing. Pep Boys also has them. I think it would be best to take the header off before you paint it. I also suggest removing any shit and funk from the surface before painting it (if you got the shitty black pacesetter like me anyway).

yea, i have the Pacesetter...Im going to paint it a dark blue...how many cans of paint do you think I will need to paint the whole header, top and bottom piece, and my valve cover? Should I go with 1500 or just 500 degrees?

well havent figured out how to post any pics yet, but i had mine powdercoated red w/ chrome lettering similar to jerseys. Spent 130 total, but that including sandblasting and powdercoating the valve cover and both pieces of my intake manifold

You need 1500 degree paint. Anything less will peel off. Also, when you are done you need to cure it before you put it back on the car. I just stuck mine in the oven for 45min. @ 500 degrees. You might need 2 maybe 3 cans for the whole thing. I used 1 can for the top piece only. Hope this helps dude! :thumbsup
