I loved my Talon rear end (lol) but it got rear ended, my taillights weren't damanged but the bumper and bumper skin have to be replaced.

I wanted to keep it a genuine Talon, since they are much rarer than Eclipses, but for a new bumper and bumper skin (unpainted/unprimed) would cost ~$750 ($500 for the bumper skin + $250 for the bumper), I already picked up a '98 Eclipse bumper skin, bumper, nice red stock tailights w/ the Eclipse lettering removed, and reverse lights for $300 shipped.

My question is, I don't need any kinda of brackets or anything do I? I heard someone mention that one time when talking about the rear end conversion.

If a shop is gonna do the work which they did for me (insurance) then they'll figure it out. but if you're gonna do it you need L brackets i believe for the cover since on a talon the bumper sits lower and since the tail lights are taller/wider. oh and have fun wiring the new tails and the back up lights. the shop did mine all messed up. my backup lights were always on with the running lights so i rewired it and spliced it in the old back up lights. hope this helps. good luck

whats a bumper skin?

bumper skin = bumper cover. your bumper is not what you see its a fiber glass piece that you can't see since its behind the bumper cover.

Can someone verify needing eclipse bumper brackets?

YES. you need L_ brackets to raise the bumper.

dont listen to these FOOLS! muwahahahaha. I swithced my ass about a year ago. And i didnt need no sticking brackets. Sure they might help, but you dont need them. I just secured the bumper on each end with 2 screws. Lol. Its held up so far.

...are the L_ brackets your talking about the 2 brackets that hold up the actual bumper barrier, or is it something to do w/ the bumper skin?

Actually that thread doesn't really say shit.

I changed my ass the night before I moved, you have to drill holes for the the center peice, but not the reverse lights (you run the wires through the rubber grommet), on a '95 Talon, probably others to, the reverse light sockets don't fit the reverse light fixtures, so I took a dremel to my brand new $40 mitsu reverse lights and put the correct pattern into them. Another thing that isn't mentioned here, nor anywhere I've seen, is that you need the mitsu license plate bracket for the bumper for the tag lights to fit! I drove around for awhile, untill they arrived, with them ducktaped inside, because no one said that you needed one.

It looks so much nicer w/ the new rear end.
