I own a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. I recently went to
PepBoys to purchase a new steering whell. It wus the three spoke
carbon-fiber two button steering wheel. Kinda Fast and Furious style you

know? Well anyway I proceeded to buy the necessary things, the adapter
and
horn kit. The guy said, "What kinda car do you have?" I told him and he
said, "I'm sure they make a kit for that car." So i waited there for a
few
minutes and when the guy came back he said he was sorry. I was like why?

They didn't have an adapter kit because the Eclipse has an airbag. But
how
come i cant have a steering wheel when tons of other eclipse have them?
What
do i have to do in order to purchase a steering wheel? Please Reply.

u can get a wheel anda hub, just not through pep boys. check out my hub i made without my cover on it...i kept my cruise control n horn too

Nice setup Steve! If you're not inclined to make your own, hub adapters for 1g Talons/Eclipses work.

I kept the box to my momo adapter. It says : Ecl/Gal/Mir/Sta/Cor/Tre/Mit PU. So it should work with pretty much any car mitsu makes. :thumbsup 6 holes.

they're prolly just telling you that b/c techincally it's illegal to take off your airbag. it's not that the adapters an stuff don't fit. you're just not supposed to put an aftermarket wheel on our cars. not that it stops any of us from doing so :P

just tell them you have a 1g and they will give you the hub for the 1g. it will fit our cars

its not illegal. why do u think they have airbag shut off switches on the dashes of most vehicles? You will not get pulled over or get insurance claims denied if u have an aftermarket steering wheel. I once thought it was illegal, but after a month's worth of searching and whatnot I have concluded it isn't any different from the fact that u can switch them off and on with most vehicles anyways. It all depends on your state and local laws, and the lazy employees of your local performance shop. But insurance and police do not care....for the most part.

i do know that when you sell the car you have to have the air bag in it cause that is illeagle. On this concept it is illeagle because say the person got in an accident the next day and died, his family can come back and sue you because it didn't have an air bag which could have saved his life.

well in a situation such as that you would make sure to tell them and make them sign a waiver showing they understand such said circumstances.

This is assuming you are selling a modified vehicle, of course it won't be like new or factory-equipped. Common sense.

Trucks are really the only ones with thte on/off switch, and that is for the PASSENGER airbag. you CAN be denied for your own injuriesand/or passengers if insurance finds out you took out the airbag(s). 99% of the time you won't get messed with but it IS illegal. You will never be able to sell the car w/ a clean title because of it as well.
