50942, headlights are fogged!! HELP
Posted by fauchpj, Jun-20-03 07:57 AM
the passenger side is worse. the drivers side has a few spots. ive got them apart right now and it wont rub off like i thought. ive cleaned them with rubbing compound, and sanded but sanding with 600 grit made them worse. theres turtle wax on one right now. whats some good ways of getting this off?

Ah, 600 is a little too coarse for clear plastic. Try 1200 or 1500 grit, followed by some plastic polish or rubbing compound again.

Any auto parts store should have it. I think I've even seen it at Wal-Mart.

edit: Oh and try not to get it on clothes. It leaves a white powdery strain when it dries.

I would strogly suggest you use at least 1500 grit before you start on the plastic polish. The plastic polish will make it look smoother, but there will still be a lot of scratches.

It's going to look foggy until you use plastic polish.

try mothers mag cleaner...it's just a little container...it's been working for me...I usually use it every 2 weeks or so...it doesn't look AS bad, and it took the yellow off...just something else to try...
