ok guys so i fixed my cracked bumper but now when i went to put it back on the fitment sucks balls here some picks





i cant get rid of the gap in the back any ideas and yes i know the bumber looks like shit but i'm gonna bondo the fender and bumper together and then sand everything down help me out guys please first body project and i wanna get it done already

i guess since you are molding them together the easiest way would be to just glass them together the way it is. just make sure to put some glass down in the crack and sand it smooth once it dries. may take a few tries but there is no sense in fighting the bumper with bondo when you are gonna cover up the lines with molding them together. just my .02

use pirana putty to fill waves or minor imperfections in glass or bondo work

ok so i should glass it instead of bonding it, not to sound dumb but how would i glass it

go to autozone or whatever and get a fiberglass filler kit thing. glassing is better than bondo because it is stronger, fiberglass doesnt retain water, and is just better overall. you will be more pleased with the outcome if you glass it.

is that the fiberglass jelly stuff

anyone on the fiber jelly stuff???? and i got it to fit tighter so the gap aint as big but i still have the fender sticking out father then the bumper so it dont line up good i guess the glassing would take care of that but how do i do this i have the jelly stuff and if its with that then i guess its easy the only thing that worries me is how can i minimize air bubbles them things are gay

you will need the fiber cloth for that.... get teh fiberglass resin... cut teh cloth into small sections.... and do it like paper machea.... but make sure you mix the resin right and have the cloth already cut before you mix the resin because in 11 mins the resin will be setting......

ok so tell me if this is right
sand down whole section
cut mat (would it be better to use fleece or cotten)
apply resin
lay mat
more resin
sand till even
prime
paint
is there anything im missing there and how well is the glass gonna stick to my metal fender, sorry if im asking allot of stupid questions just wanna make sure i do this right

fiberglass cloth or the mat. its with the fiberglass resin. And definately use small strips or squares to keep from getting bubbles. I'd sand your bumper down w/ a belt sander to make it flat.. and then bolt it up before applying the fiberglass. make sure it is bolted up really tight or the fiberglass will crack. u could even put some adhesive such as liquid nail between the two to hold it together.

i've heard somewhere that liquid nail will eat away at the glass is this tru or not
and this is what ive done so far hope it works out i belt sanded it down till it was near flat then rotary sanded to clean it up a lil then laid down resin then took cloth and stretched it around then resined it up im waiting foir it to dry now but should i put mat over this or leave it as is

does no one care come on guys should i leave it as is or add more layers of mat

make sure you put the mat down with resin and then build up the resin and then sand it down smooth... use as little bondo as possible... the more glass the stronger it will be

ok so heres an update i sanded like a mofo down to bare metal and sanded bumper a substantial amount i then layed cloth over the crack and resined it

i then sanded it real good and put more resin on it then saded real good again i then took resin jelly and aplied it around the whole area

it was getting late so i left it drying as soon as i get up tomorrow i will be sanding the shit out of that till its nice and flat and then i guess i'll be putting on my flares

update, even tho no one cares
i sanded down till the battery on my sander died and then primed it it still needs allot more sanding but im loving the way its comming out makes it look sleeki have yet to put bondo on so its all glass

Pics of the flares are coming. I like the molding but a little worried. Be careful all any bumps because one lil' bump is going to crack ur blend if you did not use enough glass. Definitely build the back. Ur not gonna see it anyway. I LIKE :D

Nm, I wrote a reply before reading you got it together. Just make sure you have a lot of fiberglass behind it to reinforce it. Good luck.

well i have 3 layers of glass hopeing that enough, how should i do the back, and remember that its bolted also really tight so its gonna be hard to crack it, apart from the fact that it isnt a daily driver

You should be fine hopefully. Normally I would suggest using rivets, not bolts to connect the bumper to the fender. But it's too late. Is the fiberglass at least around a half inch thick? I would aim for aroung there, so it's slightly thicker than your front bumper (assuming your bumper is relatively thick).

ok well im not gonna be here all weekend but as soon as i get back ima pile sum glass on da back part im pretty sure the front is fine

btw does anyone have pics of an eclipse with absolutley no body lines i wanna see if i like it or not before i do the whole thing

lookin good. im glad that you took my advice because it looks soo good. i want to see the end product. just keep sanding, that is the worst part.

i hope i'm not to late on this...but when i do mine i'm using urathane...not bondo or fiberglass...cas i seen a guy do his and painted it and he just lightly bumped a curb and the fiberglass cracked

well urathane does break too..... won't handle the cold.... i'll stay with fiberglass cause i can fix it urathance it ass'd out when it cracks.......

yea i like the glass idea too just like ^ said easy to fix and i aint painting for a while so we'll see how it holds up
