49146, Black interior! Posted by CoprEklipz, May-31-03 10:25 AM
So I refused to listen to others on the board scoff at the idea that a black interior existed, and with dilignet searching...I am now the proud owner of a 95 Durango Copper GS with black interior ;)
The door panels are manual, so I've come up with a creative solution to that problem...pics later. The rear quarters (where the rear speakers are) are also replaced, as are the door sills, the center vents and bezel, the foglight/mirror bezel, and the door vents on the ends of the dash. All in factory, unpainted, unfadable and scratch resistant...black. Still have to install the dash, and get a black pass airbag, the center console and kick panels are in the mail. I'll take pics when finished...but wow, does it look awesome :)

NOW he says something about the seatbelts! Well, it doesn't matter, I got the *bulk* of the panels replaced, the little things like seatbelts will soon follow. Bill, I'm thinking maybe Monday night I'll head down there again. Possibly tomorrow night, but doubtful.

Welcome Bill :) Now all we need is a radiator...maybe we can make off with that free too :)
Yeah, this car was a 97-99 RS, and it had NO options. Question for you, you said you have almost all black interior, but the carpet and seats are still grey, which in this car it was, but what about the hatch area? are the panels black or grey? In this donor car they were grey, so I didn't bother grabbing them, since I already have them :) Also, what about the a-pillars, b-pillars, and c-pillars? Do you have a sunroof or solid roof? If solid, is the dome light bracket black too?
PS- Does anyone have a driver's door cup in black?? Also looking for lower dash...didnt get a chance to peek at the donor car (I'm an idiot.) It might have it, but I couldn't find the door cup. Thanks!
Oh, one more thing, there are a few scuffs and scratches on the panels...and recommendation on cleaning these up? Barely noticeable, but I'm anal :) I was thinking of sanding them down really carefully with really fine paper...
Hey Bill...start thinking of a way to fix the dash, those pieces we so carefully broke off? Yeah, they hold the radio in. :) WTF!

all of my pillars are dark dark grey. almost black. not quite though. my dome light is light grey. hatch area is grey i have black floormats out of a dodge durango that was totaled at a dealership i worked at. i have a solid roof. my car doesnt have a door cup holder. :( you can probly lightly sand the panels down but i wouldnt sand and sand and sand some more unless you are applying coats of paint to sand down. you may end up with some lumpy looking panels because you sanded too much in one spot. > >Yeah, this car was a 97-99 RS, and it had NO options. did you get all black door panels or are they black and grey?

Door panels are ALL black. The inserts that are usually cloth and or leather in our cars is soli plastic. The whole door is once piece believe it or not, with the exeption of the vent and its surround. Looks really smooth, and clean. Gonna get component speakers for the front and use the crank hole for my tweeter...and if Bill and I feel creative enough, attempt to change out the rather unattractive speaker grill for something a bit more pleasing. The dash is bonna be a real bitch to repair, I'm thinking of fabricating something to put behind the radio instead because the plastic is gonna suck to fix. May or may not have found an airbag, and have some other things coming very soon. In about a week, maybe two, I'll be worlds apart from where I am now. I'll get lots of pics for everyone. Bill, thanks again for all your help...and we may have to venture back to that yard for a few more parts. This time we'll start up here though :)

I was waitin for you to catch this post ;) I'm goin after you for best black interior title ;) just kidding man. Actually, your pics inspired me to do the same. If I have to, I'll paint the rear hatch area, but its separate from the front, so I guess you won't notice all that much. Asfor the lower dash...I'm still keeping hope that there are factory black pieces. I was told there were no factory black door panels, and theyre in my car. So if that fails...I ahve some other ideas. Pics sooner or later...but thanks for the ideas ;)

believe me, they didnt make them in black. ive studied our cars for a while. the all black door panels are more common on the manual windows. but there were quite a few in 99 with power windows and all black panels
