48566, RX-7 Rims? Posted by Dirty, May-26-03 04:27 PM
This might belong in the handling section, but since rims are usually discussed here, I'll post here.
Anyway, does anyone know what size these are? How much do they weigh? Can someone post some pics of them on thier car? Thanx! :thumbsup

dino knows, and you need wheel spacers to prevent rubing

i believe they are between 13 and 16 lbs. they are 16x8 and i believe you can do w/o the spacers, you just cant fit the hub caps...i thought thats what he said. if you dont have the spacers the little cap wont fit on the wheel

Yep, they R 16x8 & weigh 13lbs last time I checked. Like 96Ecli2nr said, U don't have 2 use spacers if U don't want. BUT, if U don't: 1) the back tires (mine R 225's) barely knick the control arm and 2) U CAN put the little caps on the back rims only. The ties or whatever on the big hub nut or whatever stops U from putting the cap on in the front.
I just went 2 a local hardware store & bought some heavy duty aka really strong washers & stacked them... don't remember the size so I know this doesn't really help, but I put 3 on the back & 4 on the front. Now got plenty of room & caps R on. Great rims, my sig pic is from B4 I put the washers on.

That really doesn't sound like the safest thing to do:wary

LOL... Noooooo, they may not B bulletproof like the whole plate spacers, but they R plenty safe. It's the cheapest thing 2 do & still very strong. Just make sure U do get heavy duty washers. Oh yeah, U're gonna need some Cone Lugnuts, ours stock lugs won't work.
P.S. I didn't go 2 Home Depot 4 the washers, but an actual nuts & bolt hardware store... not aluminum ;)
P.P.S. They're not the black metal (those R the strongest, like our motor mounts), they R the 1 under it. Metal is color coded showing strength.

rx-7 rims are 16x8 and will take 225 50 16. any wheel 8"wide will take 225's.
